Elected Democrats and other party spokespeople should start saying it out loud:
The purpose of the "surge" is simply to insure that the U.S. occupation of Iraq continues at least until the end of Bush's term, so that he can "avoid" the disgrace of the inevitable departure of the troops being on his watch.

Then there is at least the possibility to try to "spin" the history so that the "defeat" (a venture that could never have succeeded in the first place) was someone else's fault.

If it's repeated enough, on the air and in writing, from enough sources, it'll force people to become aware of this motivation.

3. The reality is, even if the troops came home before 08, the Republican spin machine will STILL
go into overtime blaming the congressional Democrats for defunding the war or whatever.

They will blame the failure on anyone and everyone but their tin hero for leading the country down this dark path of invasion and conquest.

Either way I think the judgement of history on Bush will be unambiguous. The nonresponse to Katrina and the disastrous invasion and occupation of Iraq will be his legacy to U.S. and world history.

4. maybe it's time to call sedition sedition
that's what outright lying about the proven facts in front of a trusting electorate which depends upon information to draw conclusions is, sedition. the left wing press, when there was one, always lived under the shadow of being accused of sedition; now's time to use it to shuttup the phony bastards mediawhores, and make bribing media for lies a crime (for ex. peter jennings, a mediawhore who sold out the country was paid $28 thousand every day, sunday and holidays ie $10 million/yr and died :) with a $58 million estate, though jennings did not do a lick o work in his entire life! he never even shovelled his own driveway!)

5. I agree that the truth should be stated loudly,

... clearly, and often. We can do with the TRUTH what the Repthugs have done with their lies. Dems across the board should make that point EVERY time they are asked about the 'surge'!

Dubya is more interested in buying time to provide cover for himself, deflect blame and responsibility, and salvage some kind of legacy from the toilet ... before it's flushed. He's a total sociopath and places his artificially inflated ego ahead of the country and troops he pledged to support and protect.

6. Agree. All of this is about saving face for * now and not about winning.
This should be repeated often and I like the fact that Biden has stated it for the record.
