2. PJ O'Rourke
turned out to be a huge disappointment from the days when I used to read his columns in RS. Can't stand him now

3. I can't stand him either...
and I'm still trying to figure out why so many find him funny. That guy's an asshole.

4. Ditto
But I go back to reading him in The National Lampoon in the glory days before Doug Kenny died. There was a long dry spell with this type of brilliant satire before the fantastic Spy magazine came along but, now, there seems to be nothing. If there's any good, irreverent publication out there I'd be grateful if someone pointed it out to me.

5. He was funny, once
back in the 1970s at the Lampoon. I used to even enjoy his books, but in the last few years he has turned into such an insufferably smug libertarian asshole that he would look best with a truck parked on top of him. Or maybe a tank.

6. I think he's still funny
But he's lost a lot of his edge since his Jamesons habit has gotten the best of him these days.

But I still think he hit the nail on the head when he said

"The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then gets elected and proves it."

7. I read his old stuff after he changed (and when I first learned of him)
Not the man he used to be. :(

8. He used to be a Liberal
Personally, I think if one were to pin him down he'd be more of a Libertarian/Anarchist - but he likes the free booze so he stumps for Republicans.

Granted, I don't agree with him but when he's right, its usually really funny.
