I'm not addicted to oil you ass!
But I am pretty partial to heating my food, cooling my home, driving to church/work/stores and travelling on vacation to visit with distant family.

HOWEVER

I would be more than happy, happier even, to do so using clean renewable energy sources. In fact, I've been screaming for it for a couple of decades now.

You lied when you said we were addicted to oil. But no surprise there, we're used to your pathological penchant for prevarication.

You and your oil company buddies are addicted to the profits you reap from oil dependency. We know it. You aren't fooling anyone. Just looking like a fool. Again.

1. Better yet, I visit those family members.....
.....use something other than a vehicle so behomethly large it has it's own zip code and dedicated oil refinery pumping out the gas needed to fuel the damn thing.

9. i live in phoenix arizona and i would say that about 75% of the
cars on the road are either SUVs or pick-up trucks. i drive a little mazda miata -- 26 mpg.

does anyone remember the 70s when their were gas lines? after that people started switching to compact cars -- but that didn't last for long. once they felt that their gas supply was safe they went back to the gas guzzlers.

2. all of a sudden he's realized this. Jesus H. Christ. john kerry
was talking about alternative energy before he even ran for president. so that was about 4 or 5 years ago. that was one of the things that impressed me about him.

3. I'm addicted to good extra virgin olive oil, some garlic and
a good whole wheat farmers bread to dip into it. Most everything I need is in walking distance.

11. I'm in suburbia, but there is a grocery and a Goodwill on
one side, and 1 1/2 miles away is another grocery, a hardware store, restaurants, and other niceties.

6. Addicted to oil???
Yeah, about like I'm addicted to oxygen.

I've got petroleum based soles on my shoes and even the elastic strap in my under-trou has some petroleum product in it.

I can conserve by riding my bike, but even the tires are based on petroleum products.

Like oxygen, we can't get by without it... not yet anyway.

12. And yet, we are a blip on the radar screen of time
Humans have been here much longer as non-oilies, than we have as oilies.. Our lives are enhanced by the use of it (or maybe our overall health not-so-much), but surely we could use less of it..

We invited China and India and all of South Asia to the "party" and now we have to share..
Americans don't play well with others.. We talk a good game, but we want all the resources for ourselves..and we want them cheap..

Our "new guests" at the global dinner party came laden with many friends and family members and they consume a LOT once they get going.. We taught them how to do it, and they are up and running now..

It's like the teenager who invites his friends to dinner, when there's only enough for the family,, 6 pork chops divided by 6 family members and 4 or 5 buddies, means some people aren't eating, or everyone gets half a pork chop
