I think when Lincoln was assassinated they put him on a train and toured close to the entire country. It took so long that by the end, some people were passing out from the smell and Lincoln's appearance.

It's the country's way of showing respect for a former president. There were quite a few people that thought highly of him, and for all intents and purposes, he seemed to be a decent guy. I'll put away my partisanship for a few days.
