1. that's some pretty messed up stuff right there, IMO
I see the point they're trying to make, but the underlying context of the message is disturbing to me.

Saddam Hussein Executed = 'Touchdown'.

And note the difference: "Illegal Beheading" vs "Unsportsmanlike torture"

I know some will see this as picking semantic nits, but I really does bother me.

2. It's a pretty weak cartoon.
Basically, anything that comes from Cagle is substandard, IMO.

4. Although Cagle carries it on his website, ...
it's Matson from the St. Louis Dispatch.

5. I meant anything coming from the "syndication" Cagle provides.
It's all second- and third-tier stuff.

6. The unsportsman like torture is mimicing "Sparky"
you know the guy standing on the box, wires attached to his hands.

3. It's a bullshit treatment of what is the truth about American culture:
We respond to fear and competition, and avoid love and connection. Football is the perfect metaphor for the way corporate America teaches us to live life, but not in the way this idiot cartoonist thinks.

7. This is eloquent satire
Perhaps some don't get that demeaning part. That is the simplistic cut that is part and parcel of all of it. Winnowing it down to visual signaling by stick-men makes perfect sense for * and others that feel bothered in having to read about any of it. That is what the right now does, to remove themselves a few levels from the ground floor where the fighting takes place.

The old adage that a picture can take the place of a thousands words is often seen if one really take the time to notice. On a intellectual level, football has many levels physical and philosophical engagement but to the casual observer it all just looks simple (similar to politics)
