What is with the hand wringing and Polly Annaish attitudes, re: Congress
wanting to go around the Republicans in order to forge a POSITIVE agenda?

I've seen comment after comment bemoaning the Dem's stategery.

Do you HONESTLY think the Republicans are not prepared to stonewall, and in their lingo, obstruct, every positive action the Democrats plan to enact?

What the fuck is wrong with you people?

Just what positive legislation has come from the GOP-controlled Congress?

someone please tell me.

13. Haven't you been watching. The GOP would swat you out of the way
in an instant. After twelve years the Dems finally have a chance but the GOP is consistantly looking for any opening to shove their way back in.

20. If you know the facts, we're not being thuggish, just preemptive
since the Repubs made it clear they would obstruct, we must bulldoze.

5. I say we fight a fierce fight to the death if need be, but take the high road.
The moral high ground is what separates us from the sociopaths in power. We can fight hard but clean.

When all is said and done, history only honors the good guys.

7. I was wondering that, too.
I mean, seriously. Seriously.

It's like a segment of DU has been afflicted with a bizarre case of short-term memory loss.

We are the alpha dogs now, and we'd damn well better act like it. The other side made civility obsolete about, oh, 8 years ago....so spare me the hand-wringing.

8. The pragmatic among us
recognize the necessary "window dressing" the Dems are putting on the beginning of this session. Should the Pukes stonewall or whatever, the Dems can come back and say, 'cause it's in the Public Record and a matter of "fact", "we did all we could do to reach across the aisle and work with the Republicans, but they're more interested in playing partisan games". With that in the bag, they can then steamroll through the stuff they want and, when the pukes cry -- 'cause they always do, you know --, the Dems will then say "we gave you your chance."

It's all about Public Persona and being expertly tailored for Public Consumption. Pelosi, et al., after how-many-years of Pug rule, aren't stupid. They know what they're in for and are painting the Pukes into a corner.

I'm running outta popcorn to pop! And we still got the First 100 Hours to get through!

...smearin' shit on the faces of their contituents...I can't trust they'll have our best interest at heart until I SEE the changes take place..and even then I'll question it...because THIS was the final straw for me...they're all traitors now...

11. Lots of dems have long stood up for what's right
Mine certainly have. Senator Leahy and soon to be Senator Sanders have NEVER rubbed shit, as you so elegantly put it, in the faces of their constitutents, and Peter Welch won't either.

18. No hand wringing here! I say go for the jugular and try to enact
some legislation and begin some investigations and sideline the minority that acted like such bullies when they were in control.

Further I say send bills to Dimson** that are one issue pieces of legislation with no riders, no amendments, i.e., a bill to raise the minimum wage that states just that, period. No ties to tax bills, just to raise the minimum wage and he can either sign it or veto it.

Kick'em to the curb!!!

19. The lady, I think she was from CSM but it really doesn't matter,
described it rather nicely, on CSPAN's WJ, this morning.
The specific issues that the dems are going to slam through have already been debated and discussed to death on all sides. There is, she told us, considerable republican support for these proposals and Nancy and the democrats intend to pass them as clean bills, sans attachments, earmarks or amendments.

It would seem she has counted noses and is pretty sure of an override should * prove obstinate. There is no need, at this point, to be hard on the opposition, since they are apparently amenable and in general agreement with her. All the worry about whether to bend over and take one for the spirit of comity or to be firm to the point of obduracy is not justified, Imo.

The fireworks and sword sharpening will come soon enough.
