Insipid MSNBC Coverage...
Lemme tell you something; these assholes who work for the Networks would have been all over Ford in those days for his stances on issues like abortion or speaking out for breast cancer, or anything at all which would have been at odds with Junior's minions. Idiots like Tweety or Norah would have been complaining that these were 'liabilities' and that someone like...Brownback, would be more in line with the 'thinking' of the electorate.

I mean, shit, if they can actually have a conversation which discusses whether a vaccine against cervical cancer should be allowed on the market BECAUSE THEY THINK THAT SOME WOMEN WILL THEN HAVE MULTIPLE PARTNERS BECAUSE THEY GOT THE VACCINE, then what good is this media but to propagandize ignorance?

5. I have been glued to the tube this weekend..
Law & Order reruns (I got all caught up now)
Yearbook (It was a trip down memory Lane)
Monk-Fest..(Gotta love the Monk)

I'm sorry Betty's husband died and now she's a widow, and I'm sorry the kids lost their Dad/Grandpa, but I did not feel a personal loss, so why watch..

and I beat "Luxor" with a high score of 20million something-or-other :)

6. I have been glued to the tube too
I‘ve been watching all the pomp and funeral coverage,

because President Ford is part of our history

I am interested in what people had to say about him and

I admire Betty Ford. Oh my, she looks so fragile.

7. I don't know how old you are.
I watched almost every bit of JFK's funeral because that was truly historic. But when a former president, 30 years out of office, dies of old age, and I lived through his term, it holds less ineterst for me .

8. I haven't watched a minute of it either.
For whatever good Ford might have done in office was more than counterbalanced by his complicity to cover up the Republican power play of gutting the Democratic Party. People seem to forget that Watergate was an part of an organized, covert attempt to kill the Democratic Party. So they found a reasonably pleasent and unthreatening Republican to provide the pardon and cover-up...terrific....and we ended up with Reagan/Bush/Bush2. I wish I could be more magnanimous, but those are the facts.

propaganda-fest.

Stop. Listen to what some of our dissenting voices are saying. Don't fall for the sentimentalization of these political wrong-doings.

16. Because Jimmy Carter is an ex-President who's supposed to honor ex-President's?
You really don't expect my opinions to necessarily reflect what Jimmy Carter thinks or does, do you? And tell me...am I wrong about my conclusion about "Carter's Party"? Silly me...I thought it was our Party.

21. Of course not, I have sympathy for widows, too.
I also like little kittens, too.

I was responding to this: "Stop making up stuff. It stinks when people pull "facts" from their ass"

This had nothing to do with Betty Ford's personal loss or your admiration for her. My comments were focused on President Ford's role in covering up criminal wrong doing perpetrated by the Republican Party and the former Republican President. You were accusing me of making stuff up and pulling facts from my ass when that is very much public record. But rather than comment on that, you want to change the subject and make it about Betty Ford.

Here, have some virtual smelling salts for your vapors...sorry I upset your refined sensibilities. Get some rest dear.

"durrrty libby"....cute name.

You have yet to respond about the core point I made. Now you wish to smear me as a sexist and bigot because I suggested relief for your offended sensibilities?

19. From what I understand...
Ford and Carter had a mutual disdain for Ronald Reagan. I think Ford truly hated what Reagan did to Carter. Apparently they became quite close friends in later years. There are things that only a President can know, understand, or discuss that is why they sometimes seek each other out for friendship. Reagan was never able to do that, he only had Nancy to lean on. Poppy Bush apparently has cultivated that type of relationship with Bill Clinton.

He KNEW Ford personally and his former boss Tip O Neil was on board for all the things you mentioned.

Some people have a moral center...others just want to get paid. :evilfrown:

15. Did anyone notice the body language of Mrs. Ford as Chimpy led
her down that ten-mile aisle??? If she could have jumped in one of those pews to her right she would have. I felt so sorry for her, she couldn't wait to get up front to the welcoming arms of her kids. Then she had to walk with dubya back down, although this time one of the boys was with her.
