Bush: "President Ford Made the TOUGH and DECENT Decision to Pardon Richard Nixon"
Edited on Tue Jan-02-07 11:33 AM by The Cleaner
Funny how Bush emphasized "Tough" and "Decent" in his short eulogy. Makes me wonder if he is saying, "If I get convicted of war crimes and crimes against the Constitution, it's the TOUGH and DECENT decision to pardon ME too."

Anyone else catch this?

2. Remember Carla Faye Tucker
How many death row pardons did Gov Bush issue? Not many, I'm guessing.

9. Although the Republicans lost seats, and Ford wasn't elected, The Republican party was the sole
beneficiary of the pardon. Without a full airing of the crimes of Nixon and his cronies, in effect, Ford stopped the apparatus of justice, and ended any further investigations by the people who could have forwarded the indictments that would have killed the Republican party. No Nixon pardon, no George H. W. Bush presidency, no George W. Bush presidency.

12. Let us not forget ...
Let us not forget the Bush I pardons that short-circuited any further possible work in Iran Contra. Furthermore, many of these same people are BACK in government thanks to being "pardoned" by Chimp Sr.

It's time for the nation to seriously reconsider allowing congress to veto pardons. The way things are now setup, the president can completely undermine the justice system by selectively pardoning a few "minor players" without whose compelled testimony conviction of "major players" is impossible.
