Revealed: Rudy's '08 battle plans...left behind 140 pg plan at campaign stop!

It's clearly laid out in 140 pages of printed text, handwriting and spreadsheets: The top-secret plan for Rudy Giuliani's bid for the White House.

The remarkably detailed dossier sets out the budgets, schedules and fund-raising plans that will underpin the former New York mayor's presidential campaign - as well as his aides' worries that personal and political baggage could scuttle his run.

At the center of his efforts: a massive fund-raising push to bring in at least $100 million this year, with a scramble for at least $25 million in the next three months alone.

The loss of the battle plan is a remarkable breach in the high-stakes game of presidential politics and a potentially disastrous blunder for Giuliani in the early stages of his campaign.

The document was obtained by the Daily News from a source sympathetic to one of Giuliani's rivals for the White House. The source said it was left behind in one of the cities Giuliani visited as he campaigned for dozens of Republican candidates in the weeks leading up to the November 2006 elections.

1. incest
his first wife was his first cousin. he dumped Donna on television. but i think it's his support for abortion rights and gun control which will mostly do him in in the primaries.

it's like an anti choice type running in a Democratic Primary. they have NO chance of winning it just based on that issue alone.

2. First cousin?
Cites?

If so...ewww. I mean, my first cousins, all 5 of them, are very attractive women. That said, some things never crossed my mind. I don't attribute that to my regular and systemic intellectual slowness, either.

4. It's pretty well known in NY.
Amazing that Rudy is now worried about his private life after many years letting it all hang out; marching in parades with his mistress, etc. He thinks the loss of the documents is a nefarious plot. :eyes:

8. This page says second cousin, but I'm not defending him.
http://redstatesinners.blogspot.com/2005/01/rudolph-giuliani-lust.html

"Giuliani's first marriage was to his cousin and childhood sweetheart, Regina Peruggi, to whom he was married from 1969 to 1982.

Giuliani had his first (childless) marriage annulled, supposedly because he discovered that they were second cousins instead of third cousins!"

9. Rudy seems to have a history of problems
with keeping track of his plans.

That's why he violated the prime directive of his own Emergency Response Plan on 9-11 and a lot of firemen died has a result.

15. NYC's Emergency Response Plan
The prime directive for the Mayor was to maintain an Unified Command, which basically meant that the Mayor, the Police Commissioner (Bernie Kerik) and the Fire Commissioner were all supposed to stay together no matter what. The only other job Rudy had to do that day was to communicate to the public whatever they told him to communicate.

Instead Rudy and Bernie decided to split up Command & Control and they left FDNY to their own devises. Before the first tower came down Kerik warned the NYPD to get out of the towers. He never bothered to tell FDNY, which wouldn't have been a problem, if Command and Control had not split up.

12. A document saying that to become president, he'd have to raise...
...a lot of money, but could be attacked in the primaries based on his personal life and for being pro-choice, sounds real to me.

13. What if he has other liabilities that are less defensible that he wishes to draw attention away from
Edited on Tue Jan-02-07 08:04 AM by MGD
This could be an attempt on his part to "choose his battles". To me, it just seems very convenient for him to drop this information into the laps of his enemies like this. FDR once said: "In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way." I tend to agree with him. If we assume it is true, then we must ask ourselves what is Rudy's motivation for this? I also tend to over think everything.

14. This is a way to dip his toe into the pool without actually saying he's going to run.
You throw the trial balloon out there and see who responds and what parts of the campaign they choose to attack. Then you can sit back and watch the responses and plan appropriately on how to respond when you actually plan to announce and do this for real.

16. He's a cousin fucker. I didn't know this. That makes him pretty vulnerable to mudslinging.
I hope he runs and wins the republican primary election. We need to push this.

18. To play devil's advocate, it would be easy to fake that kind of document
Anybody running for President would have staffers figuring out the weaknesses and probable strategies of potential opponents. All you'd have to do is take that information and make a document that "looks" like it belonged to the opposition. It would be far from the first time somebody leaked fake campaign documents.

It sounds like the list of vulnerabilities in the document are ones pretty much anybody could come up with, given a half hour and google. You wouldn't even need a Lexus Nexus account to find that stuff.

The "plus" side for creating and leaking this kind of fake document would be that you could remind the press of all of Rudy's weaknesses at one time without looking like you're going negative - - plus, you make Rudy look like an idiot for loosing such an important document. "How can he be trusted with guarding the nation if he can't guard his own campaign plan?"

Not saying it's a fake, but it could be.

10. He's hoping for money from Rupert Murdoch.
Murdoch has already done a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton, but CEOs like to cover their bases, so who knows.
