Macabre. Watching the number. 2996
I feel sick.
As the death total of the Iraq war raises, I watch.
I am tormented.
I wait and watch for number 3,000.
Sad but true. It is not just a number.
But the day after that number comes, we mobilize.

Our country is in mourning. Our soldiers are dying for a lie.
Iraq is in mourning. Over 600,000 civilians have been murdered.

The tragic number of military deaths will soon reach 3,000.
It could be today.
Please join citizens nationwide to commemorate the lives lost in Iraq on the occasion of the 3,000th U.S. military fatality in Iraq. On the day after the 3,000th death is announced, there will be candlelight vigils in communities across the country.

To find an event in your area:

If there isn't an event nearby, organize one. It's not too late. About 50 events were added to the list yesterday.

Please watch: Eyes Wide Open
We must stand for those who can not. Wage Peace. Light a candle.

peace~

1. It's mighty convenient that Saddam will hang on the day we reach 3000 dead
No coincidence there. Nope, nuh-uh.

Bush murders 3000 American troops and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis and Saddam hangs?

7. Yes, bush has caused more death and destruction...
yet the media will continue to concentrate on the hanging and ignore the bloodbath.

2. I was watching "Nixon" on on demand, yesterday
and I saw the scenes of mass protests against the war. We need to bring them back, I know about the one on Jan 27th, I would love to see that explode into a general strike, and shut this nation down, but there has to be more pain to be felt.(and until more Americans are hit by this war personally, well you know.)

8. How much more pain can we take?
I didn't see 'Nixon' ....but recently watched 'Sir! No Sir!' Sad to say that those of us who lived through the horrors of the Vietnam war are looking toward the youth of our nation to take to the streets. Sadly, I have to agree with most that it isn't happening because this war isn't affecting them personally...I don't want to ever see another draft, but that's what did it. The GI movement was impressive... Now we only have a few speaking out ...I'm afraid that the ones not speaking out are afraid.....

3. You know, I'm sure we have already passed 3,000. Does anyone count
suicides or deaths of troops after they come home as war casualties?

9. I think the DoD wants to keep limited numbers.....
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I recently read over 400 suicides...I was surprised to see a recent death on the DoD list of a young soldier who was home hospitalized for weeks....It's all tragic. The number also doesn't take into account the deaths from the war in Afghanistan....
It's so depressing...Personally, the only way I can deal with this is to follow a moral obligation to take a public stand on the streets....This is an out of body experience for me, as I'm a total introvert....

U.S. Braces for Post-Execution Violence
Associated Press | December 29, 2006
WASHINGTON - The Pentagon said Friday that U.S. forces in Iraq are braced for any violence that may follow the execution of former President Saddam Hussein.

"U.S. forces in Iraq are obviously at a high state of alert anytime because of the environment that they operate in and because of the current security situation," said spokesman Bryan Whitman. "They'll obviously take into account social dimensions that could potentially led to an increase in violence which certainly would include carrying out the sentence of Saddam Hussein."

Saddam has been in U.S. custody since he was captured in December 2003, and his lawyers said Friday that he had been handed over to Iraqi authorities.

The White House declined to comment on the timing of the execution.

6. Bush's murder machine
has already killed more Americans than Osama's 9/11 attack. Not to mention Iraqi casualties.
