Okay, the "War on Christmas is over." Time to plan for our "War on Easter."

Most of our Xmas warriors are worn out and planning to sleep until the New Year. Nonetheless, Easter is only a few months away and it's time to get started on our strategies and tactics for our "War on Easter."

Although I was wounded in the "War on Christmas," (Prancer stomped on my little toe), this is no time to rest and reflect. You can be sure that our fundie opponents are already planning ways in which to portray us as "evil, latte drinking, wine sipping, anti-Christ, liberal, San Francisco type commies."

Our side is badly in need of ideas. So far, all we've come up with is kidnapping the Easter Bunny and replacing it with the Easter Yak.

Then again, Easter is a deeply personal holiday for me. I don't do all the house trimmings and such, and the baskets are for a quick hunt for the kids. I'm busier getting our basket ready for church (there's a blessing after the service), cleaning everything on Holy Wednesday, and preparing myself for the services of Holy Week.

12. Hi, knitter4democracy. No one here is really making fun of Xmas or Easter.

All we're doing is trying to point out the hypocrisy and narrow mindedness of bigots who claim to "own" Jesus while preaching hatred and divisiveness in his name.

Take threads like this with a grain of salt. Most here are not attacking the values or beliefs held by sincere religious people. We are only mocking hypocrites like Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, James Dobson and others of their ilk. I don't believe there are too many here who would attack the profound beliefs of what I would call "true Christians," as opposed to the garbage being sold by those who would use Christianity, or any other religion/belief to enrich themselves and build their own base of power.

15. Oh, I know. All that "War on Christmas" junk bothers me, too.

I wasn't offended by the thread at all. Giggled all through it, frankly. Then I got to thinking of Easter, and that's when I posted.

For all we know, they're going to try to rile up their base with a War on Easter campaign. I could get into all the theological and practical reasons they probably won't (Easter is different for them, and it really is a lesser holiday for them than Christmas for some reason), but then I'd probably be proven wrong this year. They lost the election, so they might stir people up the only way they know how.

One thing that totally ticks me off is when they say liberals are all godless heathens or somesuch crap. I'm a Christian, and I'm a liberal because of my faith. That usually blows their minds, though, when I tell them. They don't have much of an answer except then to start asking questions about my church and decide that my church isn't "really" Christian. :eyes:
