Concorde Passes Under Verrazano Narrows Bridge; Arrives at Floyd Bennett Field

Well, it's true, isn't it?

If this were from the Weekly World News, Elvis and JFK would have been at the controls, and Bigfoot, Batboy, and the three-legged skater banned from the Olympics would have been in the passenger compartment. Unfortunately, the BA Concorde was on a barge at the time. Anyway, just to prove that the headline is true:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/22/AR2006122200227.html

"Concord{e} Jet Moves to Temporary NYC Home"

They'll get that spelling right.

I could see driving on the BQE and seeing this thing on the water. I probably would have crashed my car.

3. I sailed My Boat Under The Verrazano bridge Leaving NYC
I can Verify that there would have been plenty of room
for it to fly under if they had chosen to do so

4. whoa, that's pretty cool!
i grew up in Bay Ridge and watched the V-N being built, so it looms large in my legend :-)

i remember when the Concorde accident happened, i was dropping off a rent car at San Jose Airport. an airport was the last place one wanted to be while hearing the creepy, awful news.

cool photo and nice imagery. i know they're not going to start flying the Concorde again, but it's a nice reminder of when we used to believe in progress, instead of trying to turn the clock back to the Crusades.
