ROSIE O'DONNELL: 'I LOVE BUSH!' (November 2001)
"I love him now!" O'Donnell told KRLA-AM's Dennis Prager.

O'Donnell said she even got to Yankee Stadium an hour early for a World Series game so that she could videotape Bush!

Let's not reach into the crypt.

Rosie is not my favorite person but The Donald is "vomit."

Go Rosie!

10. OMG you source New Max! Even so, The Donald remains
a first class horse's patootie. He's one of the few people I'm aware of who is as arrogant as King George. Perhaps it was projection on The Donald's part?

That said, IMO, compared to The Donald, Rosie is "peaches" with me.

My point was that Rosie was afraid of Bush* to just some radio show, while the Donald stood up to a hard-right publication.

If the quote was from an interview by NewsMax, it was from an interview by NewsMax.

Unless you can find me some other story about how the Donald claimed the quote was a fabrication on NewsMax's part.

29. Um. No. The analogy of the "rancid bush" doesn't apply to me.
I got on the "Bush is an Idiot" train in late 1999 -- way before the first primary. A tiny group of international posters at a very, very obscure bulletin board were having great fun at his expense before it was popular. 9/11 didn't change that for me -- I've been convinced forever that, with Al Gore as Prez, 9/11 would have been just another lovely late summer's day.

That's not to say I cannot understand and forgive those who bought into the post-9/11 Bush lovefest. But that ain't me.

12. Everyone rallied around Bush after 9/11
We were attacked. We all came together. If Bush** was a decent human being, he could have used that unity and goodwill to do great things for our country and the world. :-(

Many DUers woke up very quickly, but other people took a bit longer. I'm certainly not going to criticize anyone for saying they loved Bush** in November 2001 - a mere two months after 9/11, when people believed he was actually going after Bin Laden and trying to protect our country. If someone said, "I love Bush" in November 2002, then I'd be a bit ticked off. ;-)

18. not me--I watched him steal the election. And the megaphone at Ground Zero stunt?
that was the most appalling bit of self promotion and disrespect for the dead--let alone the living "heroes"--I had ever seen. He turned it into a photo-op! It was all about him and his aggrandizement. From the beginning.

I've worked in the daily news business for years, and my boss even longer. The morning of 9/11 we turned to each other simultaneously and said "Bush did it." There was never any doubt. Will our uber bosses let us say the obvious? No no no no no.

20. You knew that morning?
I'm impressed! :toast: It took me a couple of months to come to that conclusion. I hated Bush** ... but we were attacked and I thought we should come together. I never offered blind obedience or unquestioning loyalty, but I was willing to temporarily put aside my hate for the greater good. The Patriot Act was my first "red flag" and by early November, I knew. I didn't want to believe it and I tried very hard to avoid that conclusion ... but inside, I knew. :-(

on that sad day, and I never took his side.
But, in the archives one would be surprised at those here who flat out kissed his ass, no ifs, ands or buts.
I've simply never seen a reason to trust the f****** to do anything correctly. That includes abiding by his Constitutional oath.

19. I sure as hell did not support him,
in fact I distinctly remember being terrified at what he would do. As my mother and I watched the events unfold on TV that day...I remember my mother saying, "So where is he? Where is the president?" Where indeed. My whole family was frightened for this country and I was convinced he would use the event to start a war. And so he did. I just had no idea how bad it would get. Not in the least surprised though.

32. Relax gang .. I didn't literally mean EVERYONE ... it was a figure of speech
I was just trying to make a point. Many people, including die-hard Dems like Rosie, rallied around Bush after we were attacked. He didn't deserve it, but that's not the point. HE was the pResident and people wanted to believe in someone. He was the wrong guy to believe in, but not everyone saw that in November 2001. Thankfully, times have changed. :-)

37. I'm a proud member of the 10% club
I NEVER trusted him. Just because we were attacked doesn't erase what he did to the country and constitution in the 2000 election.

Besides why he got such high approvals after failing to react like a leader while planes were flying into buildings is beyond me. He should have been raked over the coals for his lack of leadership and action.

If so, we have a long, long way to go to win in 2008.

Right, you just described most famous entertainers. The Clooney's and the Damon's are the exception.

Everyone seems to be forgetting that Rosie's job is to be obnoxious, it's probably in her contract.

24. It's human nature to rally around the leader in times of great crisis
When you witness the horrible death of almost 3,000 of your fellow Americans and the President PROMISES to bring justice to the people responsible, you want to support that because the pain is too great not to. Most of us were feeling, not thinking and that's just a human response. I see no need to ridicule others for feeling things most of us were feeling at the time.

31. Thats why I love Paul Krugman
Now that Bush's approval ratings are in the dump people like Sully grudgingly criticize the Rethugs and expect to be lauded for their "conversions". The Krug wrote an oped critical of Bush soon after 9/11 and that took some big cojones.

I remember the atmosphere back then...It was so difficult to say what one actually thought about Bush there for a while.
