Edwards Transitions From "Fresh Face To Crusader"

<snip>

Who is Edwards crusading for? The same people he has sought to help since the 2004 election cycle, through his work as director of the Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity.

It's a crusade worth fighting, on the heels of a Republican leadership that has so overwhelmingly looked out for the well-to-do, and time and time again left behind lower-income families.

Republicans have for six years spun about being "compassionate conservatives." It's meaningless words, not backed by actions. Edwards has a message that he plans to back up with action, and it could lead him to the White House.

1. He is getting a huge amount of positive talk. Tweety asked some Democratic talker who would be the
nominee and the guy said Edwards is a lot stronger and popular than most people realize. He said that Labor really like him. Tweety was impressed that Edwards could answer all his "pop quiz" questions on different leaders.

I sure could handle having a smart person in the WH again.

One point Edwards made that day makes sense -- it's easier to run a campaign the second time, because you worry less about logistics, and more about getting your message out.

I think he's the favorite, because the buzz around Obama will eventually die down, and Hillary has huge negatives which may stymie her in Iowa and elsewhere.
