Have any repuke leaders denounced Representative Goode's
bigotry? If so, I haven't seen it. The silence from the WH, and repuke leaders in Congress is deafening. It's also damning. I'm grateful to Representative Goode for putting his anti-Muslim bias out there. It's easier to fight against. and the longer that repukes put off repudiating such garbage, the clearer it is that they actually endorse it.

1. I have not seen any yet - in fact -
My newspaper had an article today about Ellison & Goode and it pointed out that Zogby's organization (Council on Islamic Relations?) had called for Republicans to repudiate the letter and their plea had fallen on deaf ears so far.

3. I think their tacit
approval of blatant bigotry will further damage the repuke party, not help them.

5. I think Goode's punishment in hell should be to read...
the US Constitution ad infinitum...because he certainly doesn't understand its clear meaning now in this matter.

6. The dirty open secret, that the media never reports, is that the pukes openly pander to racists.

8. Right.
They feed the ugly, violent undercurrents of hatred in this nation. They are agents of a hateful agenda, and seek to sow seeds of hatred, division, fear and discontent among the general public.

9. Here is John Warners comments (NOT diss Goode)
Edited on Fri Dec-22-06 07:00 AM by rodeodance

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/12/21/quran.congress/index.html

....Virginia's senior senator, Republican John Warner, said in a statement Thursday that he respects the right of congressional members to freely "exercise the religion of their choice, including those of the Islamic faith utilizing the Quran."

Rep. Rahm Emanuel, an Illinois Democrat who is Jewish, said Thursday that he hoped Goode would meet with Ellison.

Emanuel said he would "see what I saw: a good American with good values of a different faith who's trying to do right by the people he represents."

10. Ellison had a good retort to Wolf Blitzer:

...Blitzer asked the new lawmaker-elect directly if thought Goode is a "bigot."

But Ellison refused to partake in what he characterized as "name calling."

"I don't know the fellow and I'd rather just say he has a lot to learn about Islam," Ellison said.

The congressman-elect said he looks forward to meeting Goode.

"What I'd tell him is that there might be a few things about Muslims that he might want to know," said Ellison. "He might want to know that Muslims -- there are about 5 million in the country -- that they are here to support and strengthen America.

"They are nurses, doctors, husbands, wives, kids, who just want to live and prosper in the American way and that there's really nothing to fear," the new lawmaker said. "And that all of us are steadfastly opposed to the same people he is opposed to, which is the terrorists, so there is nothing to be afraid of.

11. Hypothetical Goode reply:
"'so there is nothing to be afraid of.'

That's how those people work, they win your trust and then Blammo the bomb belt explodes."

12. Good Question
I looking forward to hearing from the GOP's Congressional leaders on this. I wonder what their newly elected Senator from Connecticut will say.

13. Interesting to see how real Moslem fundamentalists view Ellison
http://tariqnelson.wordpress.com/2006/11/19/khawarij-make-takfeer-of-keith-ellison/

They seem to love him about as much as Virgil Goode does. Which supports the view that theocrats of all sorts have more in common with one another than with democrats with a small or a big D.

Actually while Warner was not dissing Goode, he seemed from the quote to be quite critical of him, within the formalities of 'parliamentary speech'. Anyway I hope the voters get fed up with him - 'Goode' is a really ironic name for him!

15. Now that is a really good question.
A brief internet search turned up nothing. We may not be able to do much about pressuring repubs, but surely we should be able to get our own reps to speak out against this revolting bigotry. I'm going to send of emails to my reps, Senators Leahy and Sanders, and to Congressman-elect, Peter Welch, right now.

16. According to Wikipedia, which may not always be reliable, at least one did
In response to Goode's letter, sixth term Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-NJ) wrote him saying he was "disappointed and in fact startled by your recent constituent letter...Keith Ellison serves as a great example of Muslim-Americans in our nation and he does not have to answer to you, to me or anyone else in regards to questions about his faith
