I watched it too. He is a real cutup as well as a great actor. Was very interesting.
"The Good German" is about the Potsdam conference and who was going to get the brains behind the V-2 rockets -- the Russians or the Americans? Like Werher von Braun. The after the war German brain drain instead of the before the war German brain drain to America, where they all worked on the atomic bomb at Los Alamos -- Einstein was the most famous one. He said they used ancient cameras with fixed focus (no zooms) and boom mikes, so that the film would authentically feel like 1945.
There were more laughs when he was talking about making "O Brother Where Art Thou?" and what a big hit the CD was. He said "They thought I could sing because I'm Rosemary's nephew." That was funny. People who can't sing, and do.
He said filmmaking boiled down to the quality of the script, and the quality of the director. I've acted in one play, sung in one amateur opera, and I think it's true, although I am no expert on acting.
The only Clooney movie I've seen is "Good Night and Good Luck", so I'm no expert.
