Republican congressman gets ripped for anti-Muslim letter
http://www.suntimes.com/news/nation/181579,CST-NWS-ell21.article

WASHINGTON -- A Republican congressman has told constituents that unless immigration is tightened, ''many more Muslims'' will be elected and follow the lead of a recently elected lawmaker who plans to use the Quran at his ceremonial swearing-in.

Rep. Virgil Goode (R-Va.) made the comments in a letter sent to constituents who had written to him about Rep.-elect Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress.

In the letter, Goode wrote, ''The Muslim representative from Minnesota was elected by the voters of that district and if American citizens don't wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Koran.''

Ellison was born in Detroit and converted to Islam in college.

1. Everybody should denounce this guy
A quote from one Islamic group does not constitute getting "ripped" in my book.

if organizations of other faiths and fellow members and Congress denounce him, then I'd say it constitutes being "ripped" for his letter.

2. And he's not so clean...implicated in same s**t as Duke Cunningham...
The Washington Post reported that Rep. Virgil Goode (R) received more than $80,000 in campaign donations from the employees of MZM - a defense firm that’s an alleged co-conspirator in Cunningham’s case - and then was the principal sponsor of a measure helping MZM get a contract in his district. He’s since offered to refund the money.

Practice what you preach, VIRGIL.

Christamighty: Virgil, Felix, Mitt, Newt... what names!

3. Sigh. Where to begin.
Goode is so typical of how vile the GOP has become, it's hard to muster anything but despair at their ignorance and utter contempt for this country's founding principles.
