Anti-Choice Art Explains Life, Sex, and Moral Decay...with Flowers

Whorishness explained through botany.

Discuss.

My thought: The dandelion's soil looks much richer.

1. not only that
roses take obscene amounts of food and water to thrive, and need copious amounts of chemical sprays (poison) to prevent blackspot and bugs in order to look good - especially hybrid teas of the type pictured above.

So many analogies, so little time.

7. And which plant is hardy enough to survive on its own?
It ain't the rose with the roots of chastity. This is ridiculous, but the labels on the evil dandelion gave me a good laugh. Who knew that contraception keeps us from taking care of our children and our elders? And it's supposed to keep us from volunteering to help others, and from having good marriages too. Someone should have told me ... I've been doing it wrong all along!

Edited on Wed Dec-20-06 12:57 PM by Crisco
And stop trying to convince ourselves single-parent families are A-okay?

It's not the best option for raising emotionally healthy, whole, kids. Sometimes it's unavoidable and therefor, does not deserve judgement by others, but it's rarely, if ever, *best*.

there would be no more single parent families. According to the flower diagram.

But then there's the "chaotic sex", which of course, all you single parent families are brimming over with. :sarcasm: All sex outside of marriage is "chaotic", you see. :eyes:

Not that I would know the difference...I've never been married, so I guess I only know the chaotic kind.

21. and, just because something's illegal doesn't mean people won't do it
Stealing is illegal. There are still robberies. Taking and selling drugs like Meth and Heroin is illegal. People still take and sell drugs. Illegalizing abortion would be one of the worst things to happen, because instead of safe, clean legal abortions, women would have to resort to all sorts of ghastly methods of aborting that are even more disturbing than those photoshopped stillborn "fetus" pictures that the "pro-life" movement likes to throw in your face.

31. You'll get no argument from me, there.
They're living in a fantasyland where they can just roll back the country to some 1950s utopia that never existed in the first place. The amount by which these folks are out of touch with reality is astounding; for instance, the religious right LOVES their "abstinence only" bullshit- nevermind the fact that a study just came out showing that premarital sex is not only far and away the norm, it has been for a very long time. Yet the religious right still wants to foist thinly veiled Jesus claptrap on public school students telling them that even if they don't get married until they're 35, they should abstain until marriage. It's ridiculous.

But the wholesale war on contraception- and this is where the "pro-life" movement is headed, mark my words- is even scarier.

Contraception PREVENTS abortions by PREVENTING people from getting pregnant (most of the time). Wow. The "pro-life" movement is insane.

If they were really interested in reducing the numbers of surgical abortions, support for birth control would be a no-brainer.

It's not about that; it's about trying to get people to stop screwing in what they consider "ungodly" ways.

Hopefully, with the new congress, we can get some traction on the putting prevention first act:

http://www.pcusa.org/washington/issuenet/wf-040518.htm

and in the process, shine some light on the real agenda of these folks.

19. I've Nothing Against the "Rose" Poster, Per Se
Edited on Wed Dec-20-06 01:01 PM by Crisco
The things on there, for the most part, are all good things (if you substitute spirituality for religion).

What the imbeciles who drew these up refuse to concede is that the things on that chart only work when people consciously want to do them for their own reasons, not because their ministers say they must.

So much for compassionate conservatism.

They really should have chosen a different weed. Dandelions have many uses.

And what's wrong with hedonism? Oh, and lust? If these biddies could only feel it with no shame attached, for once in their lives, they might get attitude adjustments.

Final thought: sexual chaos does not necessarily need to be the opposite of strong family life.

32. I'm not against having kids- I'm against people trying to outlaw contraception.
And that's clearly where these kooks are headed.

There are several problems with the "rose" picture, if you ask me, including the idea that "premarital chastity" and "natural family planning" are such great fuckin' ideas. They're not, and neither are they realistic expectations to put on people.
