Carol Lin Leaving CNN

First on TVNewser: Carol Lin is leaving CNN after her last broadcast on Dec. 31. At an internal meeting today, Jon Klein "praised her work as an anchor and journalist and wished her all the best as she pursues other opportunities," a tipster says...

> Update: 1:59pm: "Lin will be most remembered as the first anchor to break the news of the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001," Wikipedia notes...

> Update: 2:01pm: An e-mailer writes: "And I was just thinking last night while watching her coverage of the Mt. Hood story how lucky CNN was to have Carol Lin and how I'm surprised that she doesn't have a more prominent role."

> Update: 2:39pm: "Newsroom buzz is that five years on weekends is plenty. She's moving on developing a book and TV project," a tipster says.

UPDATE: Klein Wanted Lin Off The Anchor Desk; "National Correspondent" Wouldn't Work

Following up on CNN anchor Carol Lin's exit:

"Sources said Lin's contract was up and CNN wanted her to leave the anchor's desk to become a national correspondent," Variety reveals.

"Lin's husband, former CNN producer Will Robinson, died soon after the birth of their first child; as a single mother to a toddler, she couldn't commit to the travel requirements of that job." More...

3. Oh, Goody! There's a large pool of unemployed
Republicans waiting in the wings to fill her chair. Maybe Glenn Beck can Chair the Search Committee!
:sarcasm:

Well, I was never that crazy about her as an anchor, but sometimes it's better the devil you know and all that...

The "cute" women at network/cable tv are interchangeable .. No more Juju Chang, Joie Chen or Carol Lin..are Asian women no longer in demand ?

always rubbed me the wrong way.

Just how wet are newsreaders' panties supposed to be all the time?

12. With all of the dumbasses to choose from at CNN ...
... it's always been my contention that Lin is the dumbest. I sent a letter to CNN a few months ago (which I also posted here), and summed up my thoughts on Lin:

"I doubt there is a TV viewer on the face of the earth who doesn’t know what a hurricane is, so please feel free to keep your newscasters indoors, safe and dry.

Of course, you just could put one of your newscasters out in the storm who will actually STAY there, thus eliminating the need for placing everyone in harm's way. Personally, I would suggest Carol Lin, because whoever coined the phrase "Too stupid to come in out of the rain" undoubtedly had her in mind.
