Lawsuit Seeks To Block Brown From Office
(AP) OAKLAND, Calif. A group of Republican activists has tweaked its lawsuit seeking to prevent outgoing Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown from becoming state attorney general.

The lawsuit centers on a section of state law requiring that the attorney general be admitted to practice before the state Supreme Court for at least five years before his election or appointment.
Brown -- a Democrat -- was admitted to the state bar in 1965 but was considered an inactive member from 1997 to 2003.
The lawsuit contends his service was interrupted and disqualifies him from being able to take office.
Brown's legal team says the lawsuit is political in nature and without merit.
