Man called 911 when armed robbers stole marijuana from his home, then booked for drug possession
WICHITA, Kan. - A Wichita man called 911 to report he was the victim of an armed robbery. The theft? A pound of marijuana worth about $1,100 that he had been trying to sell at his home.

The victim told police Thursday that a buyer had pulled out a sawed-off shotgun and stole the drugs.

Police brought in a drug-sniffing dog to the house and located more marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The victim was booked into Sedgwick County jail on several charges, including possession with the intent to sell drug.

The thief has not been found.

Returned home, found that it had been broken into with a large amount of drugs stolen, and told their story to the cops. I would ask this victim what I would have asked them--is he SURE that HE didn't smoke it all? At the very least, it would explain WHY he called the cops!

5. And this isn't the fiftieth time this has happened....
I remember one COPS episode where they were called in to a dispute about one woman being cheated out of her drugs. Seems she paid, but wasn't given the right stuff. The officers could barely keep from laughing hysterically, they had to keep their cool.

Bloody Hell.

The answer to all this never-ending nonsense is always the same: End prohibition, legalize, regulate and tax the shit. Enough, already.

20. I think if you look at the circumstances of this story it becomes clear
Edited on Fri Dec-15-06 01:37 AM by impeachdubya
he's a drug dealer. If you took the black market out of the equation, you would take a lot of the violent crime out of it, too. Sure, I bet people occasionally steal beer or bottles of liquor, too. But I don't think there's anything inherent about pot that is going to make large numbers of people break into homes to get it if you can buy it at the 7-11.

22. well, definately. but he would probably find some other black market stuff to sell
i mean, he's selling drugs cause its profitable for him. So if drugs were leagal, he'd find other profitable (read as illegal) stuff to sell

23. I'm not saying there wouldn't be any more criminals
just that much of the crime and violence assosciated with the drug trade would essentially evaporate, the way it did with the bootleg liquor trade.

30. That's the main reason why I want all drugs legalized
No illegal drugs = no drug dealers = less drug related crime = young kids in the poorest neighborhoods not looking up to drug dealers as successful figures to emulate.

Plus, it takes away the taboo allure as well.

26. How could anyone NOT know that doing something like that
is the LAST thing you'd ever want to do?

I've heard of stuff like this in the past, but I've never understood it. Of course, in my view, it's on a par with wearing a big pot tee-shirt while carrying, or allowing someone else to take a picture of you with a bong in your hand. :eyes: What more can you really say?

29. dumb dealer or not, here's my issue with the story
the only reason the police paid attention was so they could bust the guy. kick him while he's down. i've had legal things stolen from me, things worth more than a pound of weed, you suppose i could get an officer to even show up to take a report? HELL NO! now which is a bigger crime, a guy trying to sell a bit of schwag, or a fucking armed robbery? do you suppose the police put much effort into finding the ARMED ROBBER? no. they go for the easy bust, a guy peddling weed out of his home. i guaranfuckingtee you the guy who would steal weed at gunpoint is a helluva bigger threat to society than a guy selling the weed from his home. i've met LOTS of good moral drug dealers. i've never met a moral armed robber.

32. moral drug dealers?
That's almost like an oxymoron, unless the only thing they sell is marijuana that's grown in their own backyard. Otherwise, if they are getting the supply from other sources there's no telling how many victims are associated with the sale.

I do agree with legalizing drugs, but anyone selling anything like crack/cocaine is definitely not moral. That crap destroys communities, families, and lives.
