Is there any reason to believe that Freedom and Democracy automatically

leads to liking the USA? It is appearing that the more free people become and the more Democratic they become the more they elect leaders that oppose the USA. The majority of the world no longer looks up to the USA but rather holds us in contempt. Why should we be surprised when they elect leaders that also hold us in contempt. It would just stand to reason that when a majority holds an opinion their elected representatives often reflect that opinion. Why do we believe just because people hold elections and freely elect their leaders they will do America's wishes. This is the major flaw in GOP thinking. When they go into it with the idea "We would rather be feared than loved" it is amazing to me that they expect the world to love them and do what they want just because they promote Democracy and Freedom...

They will like us, or at least respect us. When we act as though we've already conquered the world, they won't, no matter what kind of government or society they have.
