Gosh, we're having an awfully warm December in the midwest.
It's really nice today in Kansas City, Mo., 61 yesterday and the same expected today. I guess it's just a heat wave, nothing to be concerned about, I'm sure.

Seen the Swiss Alps lately? You can get a great view of them this year, without all that messy snow obscuring the view!

17. Damn Straight
11 days before Christmas and there is very little snow on the ground. This is the second year in a row it's been like this. Bought a new snow thrower two winters ago. First winter, three "normal" storms and a bunch of smaller ones. Last winter I used it a total of three times and then on a fall of no more than 3 inches. This year so far; once on 2" and as I look out the window what's left is going mighty fast.

I heard some scientist once say that within 50 years there will be palm trees growing in Portland.

This weather kinda makes me wonder if I should sell that snow flinger and buy golf cart.

2. Last week we had an ice storm that knocked out power for a week
Today its supposed to be in the 50's. A week before the ice storm it was 60's. This time of year in IL it should be cold, not 50 degrees.

Our climate is fucked.

But that is due to El Nino, I hear.

24. No snow in central Mn
Edited on Thu Dec-14-06 10:20 AM by azurnoir
Today the high is supposed to be 50 degrees, @ 9am it is 38 degrees. The weather here has been so "off" that duck and goose hunting has been extended because the birds are apparently confused about where they should be going.
edited for spelling and content

4. Des Moines too
Our downtown's new ice skating rink is like a wading pool ... the warm weather and full sun melts the ice during the day, so much that the ice machine under the surface cannot keep the ice frozen. It is eerily warm here in Iowa, but I hate to say I like it.

6. We've had one cold snap in Wisconsin
but other than that (about a week or so of cold--what we mean by "cold" is windchills or temps below zero), it's been in the 30's, 40's. That's balmy for us at this time, and it's supposed to continue. It's great for our heating bill, but frightening overall.

8. Same here in Virginia,...
----- Except for a bitter three-day cold snap about a week ago, Virginia has been "shirt sleeves" weather the whole way. I still expect the "real" winter to show up eventually,... but the nation must have saved billions in heating costs already. Comes at a good time, eh?

30. Not in Illinois
It's a little warmer right now, but for two weeks it was bitter cold. Some of the outer burbs dipped below zero.

Very cold. Then unseasonably warm. Then cold again. Then warm. etc.

Chicago, in other words :-)

While I believe the earth is gradually warming, I don't think much can be extrapolated from our typical temperate day to day variations. Two weeks ago, no one was going "It's so cold, I can't feel my genitals. Must be global cooling."

Europe, however . . . something definitely seems off about their weather over the past decade.
