Is anybody suspicious about what 's happened to Tim Johnson?
Edited on Thu Dec-14-06 05:20 AM by Cascadian
Once again, the timing of this is just too convinient. Senator Johnson is very ill and little is being said about what is happening. Does anybody think the Neocons may have pulled a "Putin" on him? I am not talking about radiation but there are other ways to "bump' off somebody quietly. And the Bushites are evil people and don't think for a moment they are not capable of crap like this. Look what happened to Paul Wellstone.

Um...no I didn't.
But now that you have mentioned it. You have to admit the timing of this is too damn bizarre. No tin foil hat needed.

9. I don't know why not.
I think it is worth talking about. How many more plane crashes, strokes, or suicides are people going to put up with? Oh another accident! Oh another assassination! Oh but there's nothing suspicious! :eyes: There are some people who need to wake up with what is really going on.

2. No Cascadian, I'm not "suspicious," I'm certain this is yet another coup
Poisons simulating strokes have been used by our "gov't" (i.e., fascists) for decades.

I don't expect Johnson to recover. And I don't expect a genuine investigation or...autopsy.

5. Of course not.
It will yet be another "accident" or "health problem" and it will be no big deal to some people and the mainstream corporate media will just sweep it all under the table.

10. Let me give you a different take
I think he will recover, and we will retain control of the Senate

Why?

We were NOT suppossed to win the Senate or the House, if you follow history. Not only did we win, but we retained all our seats, and gained in both houses

Call it fate, providence, what have you, Johnson will recover, just like Biden did.

In 48 hours we will know...

6. No, people his age have all sorts of health problems
Edited on Thu Dec-14-06 05:09 AM by Hippo_Tron
People seem to have this idea that politicians are supposed to be immortal. God knows how many people die of natural causes every day that we don't hear about. Senators are people just like the rest of us.

And small planes are far more prone to crashing than commercial jets. It just so happens that politicians and other celebrities happen to ride in them more because they want or need to get places very quickly and they can afford them, whereas normal people can't.

There's no more evidence to suggest that Paul Wellstone was killed by the Bush gang than there is evidence to suggest that Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens were killed by the Bush gang.

Why? Wellstone gets killed over a week before the 02 election. The evidence of how he died is strange but that's another topic for another time. I just find it all very strange.

16. Your question is like asking "why do bad things happen to good people?"
The case for political assassination makes no sense. Look, Wellstone was easily the best Senator we had and I certainly wish that he were still alive fighting along with us today. But he was not going to single-handedly take down the Bush administration and assassinating him was not going to improve their chances of taking the Senate.

Planes crash, period

Edited on Thu Dec-14-06 05:37 AM by Hippo_Tron
I commented that while I think Chavez is a complete ass that Rangel was being pretty fucking arrogant for saying that foreign leaders don't have a right to criticize Bush considering that his actions do effect people outside of the country.

Other than that one post I've pretty much kept my nose out of the Chavez threads so I don't see how you would associate me with those who frequently bash Chavez.

Perhaps you've mistaken me with someone else?

40. And yet there are two extremely qualified Democrats to run in that election
Edited on Thu Dec-14-06 05:52 AM by Hippo_Tron
Stephanie Herseth and Tom Daschle would both have an excellent chance of beating whatever Republican Rounds appoints. If the GOP wanted to gain another seat they would've whacked Ben Nelson in Nebraska where there is a Republican Governor and almost no popular Democratic elected officials that could run to take his place.

45. let me remind you the Democrats DO CONTROL THE HOUSE
Remember the house? That is the body that will be investigating this administration

Incidently, by historical standards we were NOT even supposed to win the House, let alone the Senate, but we did, WHY?

History shows that the incumbants retain control in the midterm elections. In the house, NOT only did we retain ALL OUR SEATS, but we gained. If "they" control everything, they sure screwed up big time one this.

It has been a long long time since whoever won the House, didn't win the Senate

In addition, it is an open issue whether South Dakota law will have a special election if Johnson cannot serve out his term. If that occurs, it will go to the courts to decide if a special election will happen or not

Also, I would like to remind you that in 2008, a hell of a lot of republicans will be up for re-election in the Senate, and far less Democrats. We WILL WIN THE SENATE in 2008, and it WILL NOT BE close.

As far as your supposition that we have NOT lived in a Democracy for 50 years, I do NOT agree at all. In fact our country has been through far worse times. The civil war was probably the greatest challenge to our Democracy, and it survived

33. From the Daily Kos
"CBS 2's Chief Correspondent Jay Levine got reaction from Sen. Dick Durbin, a good friend of Johnson's.
Johnson is 59 years old, and a picture of health and vitality, came into the Senate with Durbin, and the two have remained close.

"Had his physical just last week, blood pressure 120 over 70 and something happened today. don't know if it was a stroke or not. There's conflicting information. undergoing surgery right now, its a touch-and-go situation and my prayers are with him. I hope he makes it," Durbin said."
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/12/13/231550/92

Got that? Just had his BP taken, normal, healthy guy, control of the senate hangs in the balance, he's suddenly having brain surgery, "touch-and-go."

No, not suspicious at all.
