Let's pretend there's nothing we can do & maybe he'll just go away.

The ape in the white house I mean, let's just act like there's nothing we can do to stop him and his war, that way, we don't have to sit around trying to think of ways to solve the crisis, and we can just wait it out. Let bush be bush, let him finish out his years doing whatever the hell he wants to, and we'll just sit back and watch passively.

That seems to be the most convenient, least complicated way to handle this situation.

This way will also absolve us of any sin or associated guilt in the matter, just say, 'hell, I had no idea he was so out of control and that things were so bad, why didn't someone tell me'?

Let's pretend that all those who die from November 7th on didn't die for nothing, but for democracy and freedom.

Let's pretend that if we just sit around passively for the next two years, 'the system' will work. Let's pretend that all our elected officials will 'do the right thing'.

Let's wait till after the new year's festivities are all over before we really get down to the business of cutting and running in slow motion. Let's pretend that the we've seen the worst of it and now we will see the happy conclusion to bush's war.

Let's pretend that Jesus Christ is returning to save us all from these demons.

1. I have to say that he makes one shut their minds.
Less and less do I read what he is up to. Every thing is a mess and now with Chaney's trip to SA. looks to me like we are being blackmailed. Saudi does not wish to fight any one and we will stay and do their dirty work I am sure. How can these two men make such a mess any how? By the end of the Vietnam War I had just stopped reading about all of it. I can see I am doing the same now. It may be an easy way for me but not much I can do and voting seem to do not one thing. Congress has to step and in a cut off the money and do it today.

2. Ok I promise to be good
and not get this thread deleted. I have been meaning to PM you and apologize for my rudeness the other day. It's just that when you asked what could he do to make amends, I could only think of one thing.

Now as for this subject, if Jesus comes back, can he make me win the lottery?

3. Let's be good little Germans
which means women are interested only in Kinder, Kueche, Kirche, (children, kitchen, and church) and the men in upholding der Fuehrer.

5. I don't agree with the hanged part. . .
It'd be so much better to send him and his cadre to Federal penitentiaries where they'd have to live out their lives seeking protection from truly HARDENED criminals. Joining racist gangs for needed protection from the minorities they so ruthlessly shafted, becoming prison-wives as a form of protection, and having all their connections and power-players leave them high and dry.

Though I'd settle for them to be treated to the "not torture" tactics they decided to use on SUSPECTS (I stress that because the guilt was not ascertained). Perhaps it's b/c I don't believe in hell that I don't support the death penalty. If there is no hell to send them to, you can still give them hell on earth.

7. I'm against death penalty too,I like to feel I could make an exception in
his(their) case(cases) for my own selfish reasons(spectacle, party, celebration, all that),but as far as providing suffering for them goes, life in prison is much better.

8. Bush *will* just go away; punishing him should not be a priority

One of the cardinal principles of justice is that it's far more important to protect the innocent than to punish the guilty.

At present, the way to do that is to render Bush irrelevant, not to attack him head on. He's not exactly a lame duck - he still has a veto, and the Democratic majorities aren't cast iron - but he's certainly limping someone and beginning to look faintly anatadeic; provided the Democrats don't "corner" him I'm hopeful that they'll be able to get a large amount of good legislation past him that the Republicans would stop if they could. If, on the other hand, they waste time and political capital going after him personally, their ability to do so will be severely reduced.

One could attempt to make a case that punishing Bush would benefit the electorate because it would send a message to future presidents, but in fact the message it would send is "this will happen to you if you become unpopular and lose control of the Senate and Congress", not "this is what will happed to you if you do bad things", so it would be of very limited benefit.

In two years time, Bush will be replaced, and fade into the same obscurity as Harding and Grant. The important thing is to start to repair the damage he's done, not to pay him back for it.
