I want impeachment more than I've wanted anything in my whole life.
I want them to take their time and to get it right, make it swift as the strike of the rattlesnake and precise to the point of making one step back and take notice. The moment to be frozen in time for us all to savor its every nuance. To let it all soak in, Where there will be no doubt as to what just happened and to why it's so. That is what I want.

6. Not enough. Not nearly enough.
A trial in the Hague. A conviction. A hanging. Several hangings. Celebrations in the street.

That would be enough.

23. I can do without the hangings. I want them set up in the
jungle naked where they can demonstrate their natural republican
superiority and ability to pull themselves up by the bootstraps.

There can be catwalks built over their compound so tourists can
come and take pictures of Cheney in his loincloth hoeing his
casaba melons and yams.

25. I Don't Think They Do Capital Punishment in the Hague
On the other hand, they don't do pardons or parole either.

7. I can wait until investigations prove so embarrassing to that party
that even the wingnuts left in Congress will have no choice but to support his and Cheney's removal from office.

In any case, they will have to be tried or this country is pretty much finished as any sort of world power. We have to convince the rest of the world that the fiscal profligacy and war crimes were an aberration, not just more business as usual.

gave us President Gerald Ford, who quickly pardoned Nixon.

15. That Is What I Want As Well. But The Investigations To Get There Would Take Quite Some Time.
My fear is that by the time that period passes, there would be no time left, as his reign would already be over.

But I would want nothing more as well than for all the facts to surface; for all our citizens to share in the outrage once confronted with truth; for all of congress to stand firm when presented with the indisputable factual evidence and send the message that in our country such behavior is never acceptable.

But I fear that may be idealistic. Fool's hope. Just a dream of a system had it been one with integrity. I fear there is no realistic avenue for that end to come as you envision. But fear or not, I can maintain hope. Maintain hope that there are real investigations and that they yield truth after truth of criminal, neglectful, ill intended, illegal and impeachable behavior followed by all standing firm in the glow of that truth and taking notice, undoubtedly, that impeachment was warranted and the only right thing to do.

Realism says there may well not be enough time for that to occur. But my heart says I can hold onto the longshot that just maybe the investigations will yield such fruit in such a short time, that who knows what could happen.

The crimes commited in arriving at that place in time as the charges of impeachment.

18. I think a short time will yield a lot
Edited on Mon Dec-11-06 10:45 PM by G_Leo_Criley
mindcrime ... the dems who've been taking testimony -- Waxman and Leahy for example -- just need the subpoena power, which they'll have in January, to go after the last pieces of the puzzles that they've been putting together.

Unlike the Nixon investigations, these folks have much info in place already, and things should move much faster than they did 30-plus years ago.

When the average American sees just what has been going on, I think things will move very quickly.

That's my fervent hope.

Also, someone mentioned pardons. We need to start communicating now with our reps that there has to be a way of stopping them from pardoning each other, or whatever nefarious crap they have as a plan B.

27. The dirt made public by summer will alter the political landscape
IMO, impeach Cheney first. Never give that psycho direct access to presidential power.

Then impeach Junior, preferably before he can appoint a new VP.

19. I'm in wait 'n' see mode.
2007 will be an interesting year. Like it or not I don't think it would be wise to jump right into impeachment; I think that before we move to that step some investigation is warranted. There is a lot that we know but I don't get the sense that there is enough "smoking gun" type evidence to shut up all the good red state-ers of the world. We need something so huge that even Ann Coulter won't know how to spin it. The type of thing that will have Rush Limbaugh making waterboy confessions all over again. But they had definitely better get moving with the investigation process because if by the end of 2007 Bush has still not been impeached, then I think it will be too late. By then people will be in full presidential election mode and too busy to think about a complicated impeachment and trial.

Edited on Mon Dec-11-06 10:52 PM by madokie
and take that trip to the Netherlands to prove once and for all that, him thinking, he was right all along. Of course that is only a figment of his addled brain, the one he uses when he talks to God and God answers, that one. Americans are as well as the majority of the people of the world will demand he get his day in court. I'm thinking that day like many others of late won't be a good day for lil' boots either.

28. Don't forget to impeach Cheney too.
Having Cheney sworn in as the 44th president would take all the incentive out of impeachment for me. They both have to go at the same time.

30. no doubt about that
I don't know how that impeachment thing works but I would think we should impeach the whole bush* cabal at the same time, or at least remove their sorry asses from the government. There were many crimes commited and there are many perpetrators in the mis-administration enough to warrant their removal.
