My 7th grader's political comment in social studies class...

The substitute teacher, after talking about how weak America was following the Revolutionary War, asked the class how the country became so strong after such an inauspicious start. After a few replies from various students about a strong constitution and good government, my son said: "Because we invade third-world countries and steal their oil." Apparently everyone laughed, including the teacher--surprising since we live in freeperland.
