"AMERICAN SON"

starring
George Clooney

As Gen. Wes Clark

New Clark Book on the Way
December 05, 2006 6:27 PM

ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: Continuing the symbiotic relationship between book launches and White House bids, Palgrave Macmillan recently announced that it has acquired the rights to "American Son," Gen. Wesley Clark's next book and possible vehicle for a second presidential run.

"America’s Son," which is slated for a fall 2007 release, promises to offer a "groundbreaking vision for America’s future" as well as a "personal account" of the military events that have shaped the world view of the four-star general who served as NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander.

Retired U.S. Army Gen. Wesley Clark writing book to be released in '07
The Associated Press
Wednesday, December 6, 2006
Retired U.S. Army Gen. Wesley Clark said he is writing a book to be published next year but said political observers should not read too much into that.

Clark, who lives in Arkansas, has said he is considering running for president. But he said his book announcement is not evidence that he will run.

"I just want to participate in the American dialogue about where we are as a nation," Clark said Wednesday.

"It's going to be about different aspects of America that I've lived through," Clark told The Associated Press. "I'm going to talk about growing up in the South. I'm going to talk about Vietnam and the Army. I'm going to talk about rebuilding the Army, and I'm going to talk about the post Cold War world."

The book will be Clark's third.

2. Are you kidding??
I'll not only be there with my sleeping bag at the premiere, along with the other person who will be there with their sleeping bag, and I will be passing the popcorn during the movie, and buying the DVD when it comes out.

A wonderful story about a compelling figure, played by one heck of a guy. Who could ask for more than that?

I like my popcorn plain, if you please.

8. Funny you should mention that...
I was on a trip with my mom and she provided the Sexiest Man issue of People Magazine as reading material and the first thing I said was, "Where's Wes?"

12. I would have preferred
Richard Widmark or Michael Douglas in their prime, but I'll settle for Clooney.

16. You misspelled "bear" -- as in "BEAR any resemblance to each other".
"Bare" means without any sort of cover. "Bear" means taking on a burden or a responsiblity -- as in taking on a resemblance to another person.

This announcement has been sponsored by The Insufferably Obsessive and Cranky Spelling Police for Truth. :P

TIOCSPFT thanks you for your attention.

L'anglais est une langue très déroutante et difficile.

I will call off TIOCSPFT tout de suite.

A bientôt,

27. Sweet! I was in Paris for New Year's Eve in 1970 (1971 was the "new year")
My boyfriend and I had gone out to dinner earlier in the evening and then retired to our hotel room (can't remember the name of the hotel, but it was on or near la Place de l'Opéra, if I recall correctly) with a bottle of champaigne for our own private ringing in of the New Year.

All of sudden at midnight I could hear all these booming noises outside and rushed out to the balcony (so COOL to have a hotel room with a balcony!) -- and in every direction there were fireworks lighting up the night sky! It was absolutely enchanting! Inexperienced young midwestern girl that I was, I had never before seen fireworks on New Year's Eve.

That is my most vivid memory of Paris; colors exploding all over the sky. The picture you posted just brought it all back to mind -- how delightful!

Merci,
sw

19. Question
If Mel Gibson produces and stars in the movie, would it rehabilitate him or sink Wes?

20. Slumber party!
What a great party we can have, sleeping bags and popcorn, waiting to see this movie. I'm psyched about the book release but your idea about the movie is even better! George Clooney wouldn't be bad to play the General-I'd never thought about that resemblance. But Wes is plenty hot and it's not just his looks. I'm drawn to the total man...brains, sincerity, courage, gravitas. Put that together with his looks and I'd rather see him portray himself! Oh. And, will there be swimming featured in this movie?:woohoo:

I have a limited attention span in front of large or small screen. I just don't find Clark, or his books, or his agenda, interesting enough.
