43. Are you deaf, or blind? I don't mean to be insulting but
there was nothing good about this speech. He delivered it like an automaton and kept raising his eyebrow for no particular reason. He had no substance and no solutions. The DNC "together we can do better" doesn't work. It was totally lackluster and designed to appeal to repukes who will NOT vote for us anyway. And they sure won't vote for us if we are just another version of the GOP> There was little difference between Kaine and Bush. He never did point out HOW we would do better except move to Va.!

7. I didn't think it would be good,
but he is probably connecting with the independents and unhappy repubs. The ones who say they can't vote for a dem, but hate the way the repubs are going.

14. Maybe, but I think differently
I like Kaine a great deal and his speech had a great deal of substance, but the speech wasn't delivered with any kind of emotional appeal. It seemed forced and he seemed uncomfortable.

The problem lies in that most middle of the road voters either had already tuned out or changed the channel once they saw how forced he was. It's a shame, but just my two cents.

19. If that's the case
We're in for a world of trouble because in case you hadn't noticed, Dems are losing and losing big.

But this guy didn't. And neither did Salazar, Schweitzer, and a bunch of other Dems who were cheered when they won, until you found out they're centrists like most of America.

23. gee I didnt know the bush gang were centrists, but thanks for
telling me the more we act like bush the better our chances of winning.

last time I heard the blab the values espoused by true dems were supported by
the majority of the americans polled bla bla bla.

guess that was wrong.

electing a dem who is to the right of arnold schwarzenneger is not my idea of
progress.

28. Kaine did a great job...
People are looking for mature adult leadership, unlike the "hold my breath till I turn blue" crowd in there now. Kaine hit exactly the right tone, made good reasoned criticsims of *, and offered an adult alternative.

It wasn't the best speech I've ever heard and he did probably rehearse it too much but it was sincere and hit the main points. It was at least better than last year's.

Listen to his speech. I think some people are too damn superficial and are judging his speech based on his looks alone. I thought he gave a really good speech. All I know is he connected with me.

42. I don't know. I'd rather have someone start being upfront.
I guess dems like the war thing and such. They seem to like variations of today's versions of political economics as well. He did a fair job on the between the lines stuff but if the audience doesn't have a clue, what do they take from it?
