Mary Cheney's pregnancy - can we make this a stem cell debate?

Beyond the ironic implications of Mary Cheney's baby having two mommies, Mary Cheney and her partner now have unused embryos if they went the standard IVF route. I wish Mary and her partner all the best health, love and joy with their new family member but I am really interested in a national dialogue, especially with social conservatives, about what Mary will do with the embryos in storage.

It would be excellent if we could stop giggling over the obvious ironies (okay yes, perhaps today we can giggle but maybe then we could get serious) and perhaps turn this into a real discussion about those embryos, stem cell research and what we are going to do about moving forward on a long delayed dialogue/course of action.

I know Mary Cheney has not stepped bravely forward into any fray but wouldn't it be great if we could nudge her, work on her, begin a letter campaign (calling John Aravosis!) to acknowledge this one?

I would vote to destroy the unused embryos so that the evil can be contained within.
I also would urge you not to hold your breath. Mary Cheney is a Cheney through and through.
She abandoned the Gay/Lesbian community when she campaigned for her father.
Why do you think she would help anyone except herself now?

...then she will kick her father and his evil warmongering ways to the curb--
as she realizes that killing, murder, lying and general chaos are no

7. I'm sure Mary won't participate in any kind of national dialogue

It's clear she's too much of a coward, too comfortable, too insulated. But it would be great to see her pregnancy and her situation used as a tool for discussion, even without her consent. I think she deserves to become a kind of lightening rod.
