NJ Election Official Admits She Can't Prove All Votes Counted Properly
PLUS: Sequoia's Spokehole Lies Again and Rush Holt Disappoints...

Said Passaic County Clerk Karen Brown, refreshingly:
"How do I prove that all of the votes have been counted properly? How do we determine whether the software is working properly?" Brown asked. "We have to rely on the vendor and their software."

Said Sequoia Voting Systems spokesliar Michelle Shafer, unsurprisingly:

"It is very easy to manipulate elections with paper-based systems," Shafer said. "Electronic voting systems are far more reliable in terms of security, audit ability, and accessibility than paper-based systems. There has not been a case of proven or attempted fraud perpetrated on an electronic voting system in this country."

Said Rep. Rush Holt, disappointingly:

But Holt said that now was "not a time to switch to paper balloting" due to the millions of dollars counties had already spent on electronic voting systems...

Robert Gates Confirmation Hearings Ignored by Cable News Outlets
Fortunately, We're Not at War or Anything...

The Senate confirmation hearings for the nomination of Robert Gates to be the next Secretary of Defense were not carried live on any broadcast or cable news networks. Neither C-SPAN 1 or 2 carried it live either, though they have an excuse (by charter, as we understand it, they must carry live coverage from the House and Senate floor when in session.)

It's a good thing we're not at war, that we have a broad national consensus about the direction of the nation and its military, and that the matter of who will lead the Pentagon as the next Sec. of Defense isn't all that important to the country at this time...

1. I love this moronic reasoning.
<<But Holt said that now was "not a time to switch to paper balloting" due to the millions of dollars counties had already spent on electronic voting systems.>>

Isn't that the same bassackwards logic used to perpetuate the Iraq War? We can't leave because the dead will have died in vain.

2. Go, Brad! It is disappointing to read Holt's comment and
I appreciate all he has done so far and hope he will respond to citizen pressure for paper ballots. We've got to push the issue.

4. I agree with your assessement...

I agree. I appreciate Holt's work. Otherwise, the comment wouldn't have been such a disappointment.

Hopefully the public will be able to move him a bit. Trying to put some things in order to make that easier.
