The Iraq Study Joke comes out tomorrow, get ready to laugh.

If we were to follow the recommendations of James Baker's Iraq Study Group, we'd be embedded in Iraq for at least another three to five years.
-----------------------

What a colossal waste of time by a colossal group of assholes, and what a colossal waste of money. I'd like to know how much in U.S. dollars this sick, hollow joke costs us when it's all over and 'accounted' for.

No one gives a crap about the highly vaunted report, nothing will come of it, no real big changes are expected, the masturbatory death machine will rattle on for several more years at least. If America decided officially that the war must end, starting today, it would still apparently take 4 or five years to end it. Then the years of rebuilding Iraq and letting the rivers of money and blood flow on unabated.

I've heard the names and offices of the few dozen members of this obscene study group, nazi assholes all with a definite agenda of not listening to the people.

And today's most absurd sound byte, "Will bush listen"? Fuck, what a ridiculous and pointless question.

1. This is an important report, whether or not Bush reads it.

4. We'll see
I hope it begins the process of ending the insanity, but I'm less than optimistic.

14. You're right, we'll see
If it puts forward some agressive policies and Bush ignores them, that's important. If it straddles the fence and cannot decide on a direction, then it is diminished. If the report trumpets Bush's current policy for staying until a miracle happens, then it was a waste of time.

3. The best way to stave off opposition is to be your own opposition...
Kinda like Rummy's Q&A briefing style, writ large:

"Would I like to leave Iraq? Golly gee Yes! Can we leave without leaving the region in instability? Gosh, no."

5. Apparently they've watered it down
They know how stubborn W is, and what was leaked appears to say their initial conclusion was basically, "What you're doing? Stop that." So they've sanded off the edges, hoping that he'll pay some attention.

The only room for optimism is W's penchant for doublethink. If he shifts strategy, it will be because that was ALWAYS his strategy in the first place. Just depends on whether Karl Rove thinks it will move his poll numbers. Cheney's going to fight it, but I think his influence as the Corporate Avenger is waning.

They "leaked" a prelim feeler and it didn't play. It will never play with Bush if it goes against securing the oil of Iraq for his own cabal and Cheney has less influence due to his own pending troubles concerning a certain bribery payment to Nigeria.

6. Are we going to see it?
If it does nothing else, it has at least given the impression--right, or wrong-- that Poppa has had to step in, once again, to bail out Sonny Boy. Nothing new there. That should be an embarrassment to both, but we know better, don't we?

7. Those compiling the report have asked for and interviewed Democrats
such as Senator Kerry and Representative Murtha as well as Republicans. I may just contain a lot of useful information and guidance. I personally, wouldn't mock the report. Now whether President Bush will listen to what it says is another opinion entirely.
Our President- unfortunately, is not willing to admit large blunders and cares more about winning at any cost.

9. This report signals a major shift in US policy,
from one centered around "staying the course" to one focused on getting our ass out of there. Even if it won't move as fast as you like, it's still an important document.

And if you're calling Sandra Day O'Connor, Leon Panetta, Charles Robb, and Vernon Jordan "Nazi assholes," you're just being ridiculous. Do some goddamn research on the people in it before you blow all your credibility on poorly-thought-out hyperbole.

13. Its an official Fig Leaf to give the administration cover
to leave without admitting we lost.

We aren't 'retreating'...we're 'advancing to the rear!'

Its a step in the right direction, but you are right, the 'recommendations' are for far too long a period of time. I suspect, it will end a year or two earlier than they recommend, since I think the Iraqi's 'recommendations' are going to be more persuasive
