Contractor's Helicopter Feared Down in Southern Afghanistan
http://www.afgha.com/?q=node/1582

A chartered civilian helicopter transporting supplies to an ISAF base in Tarin Kowt has gone missing according to a Coalition statement. It is not known how many people were onboard the aircraft nor their identities. snip

Despite recent calls by various British officials for more helicopters, the NATO forces in southern Afghanistan have yet to receive any additional aircraft and continue to face a severe shortage of transport and attack helicopters.

Recent developments have persuaded NATO to hire helicopter contractors from the private sector to help ferry supplies from base to base now that the highways are insecure and unpredictable. The helicopter that crashed today likely belongs to such a firm.

2. Afghan Autopsy
Afghan Autopsy
America began its so-called war on terror with the intention of driving the Taliban from power in Afghanistan. Five years later, the Taliban is back, Osama bin Laden is still alive, and insurgent fighters cite the U.S. presence in the country as their main wellspring of rage. How did it come to this? Truthdig contributor Christian Parenti, just back from Afghanistan, reports.
