I have determined to throw caution to the wind and hump on the bandwagon.
I am worried about his ability to govern his way through the mess the * has created in the Middle East. He is no doubt youthful but I have no doubt that he will put the right team around him to help run Foreign Policy.
I believe he is amajoritarian rather than being a liberal or a conservative. Ordinarily I have doubt about those who appeal to a least common denominator shorthand about america and her values because it is largely pablum for the uninformed and they do not mean what they say.
Barrack Obama believes what he says. I think he has the intellect and articulation to be a great and courageous president in tumultuous times. Largely because I believe the nation will warm to his manner after the cheerleading of the past what will be six years, But also because I believe the nation is ready for a new breed of presidency largely due the disenchantment of the past two generations.
I earnestly submit that while you may favor some other candidate at the moment, and you may be suspicious of Obama's capacity to talk with the right wing. It is what the majority of Americans want in a president.
He will win not because he is black, He will not win because he is so un-Bush. He will win on intellect and vision and the hope be carries in his every word,
Electorally, it is my impression that he has a mortal lock on victory should he advance. He will force the the GOP to defend their base in the south because of tremendous growth in african american voter registration and I believe his faith in God will help split the solid south.
He will win Ohio, He will will Florida, He will win Virginia. He will win Missouri.
If HRC chooses not to run (and I don't think she is going to run) He will be the perceived front-runner. We make a mistake if we think the next election will be about Bush's war. I ti going to abe about fixing problems home and abroad.
I can not think of anything more valuable to the cause of peace than to disarm those who have come to hate us for our historical hypocrisy on self determination than to elect a black man as president.
I can no think of any single act that can move this nation past its bitter racial divide faster than electing a black man to the highest office in the land.
He may not be your cup of tea. But due respect, we must move beyond Iraq and enter into a season of hope we have not seen since 1960.
