We are dropping bombs on families and claiming we killed insurgents.
And we wonder why they hate us?

US forces kill two women in Iraq
Iraq map

US forces in Iraq have killed two women in an air attack on a house in Baquba, a day after five girls were killed by US tank fire in Ramadi.

The US military said American soldiers engaged in a gun battle in the northern city called in air support that killed eight suspected insurgents.

The military said the soldiers searching the building also found the bodies of two women.

Iraqi police said all the dead were civilians from two families. Police said they were a man and his three sons and another couple and their son and daughter.

1. My bother served in 'Nam in the late 60's at the height of the
body count measurement of winning. Everything they shot was counted as NVA or Viet Cong. A rat was one, a water buffalo 5 and if they actually shot a VC it was a platoon.

That's all he'd say.

If you can find it I highly recommend WAR OF NUMBERS by Sam Adams. The parallels are frightening.

2. So what happened to all of the DU "Support the Troops!" thread-rallies?
You know, the "those-are-just-bad-apples" gang? And the "but-my-brother-in-law-is-in-the-service" gang?

3. This has nothing to do with the troop support. This is the military
spokespeople claiming these are "insurgents". I'm sure the troops out there fighting know exactly who was killed and how. Are they allowed to say? The military needs to stop lying. They need to step up to the plate and make it right. That would go a long way toward making Iraq safer. As long as they deny mistakes and make claims about the "insurgents" which we and all the Iraqi's know are lies, they cannot defeat an insurgency.
