Conrad says he'll vote to confirm Samuel Alito
WASHINGTON (AP) - Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., said Monday he will vote to confirm Judge Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court.

"He has given me his word on important matters," Conrad said.

The senator has met with Alito twice in his Washington office. After the most recent meeting last week, Conrad said he was leaning toward supporting the conservative judge.

1. What does he care? He's not going to be in office when Alito goes
against his word.

2. What else has he given his word on
"He has given me his word on important matters," Conrad said.

I seem to remember something about vowing to recuse himself to avoid a conflict of intrest
can someone with no sense of decency have a conflict of intrest?

4. Alito gave his word about recusing himself in cases involving Vangard
He didn't. I wonder if anyone has told Conrad that.

I had Ed Schultz on when I was driving home, defending Conrad for voting the way the people in his state would want him to (though Conrad apparently said that he hasn't taken any polls). It made me wonder if these spineless wonders who "vote the way their constituents think" had been around in 1964 - would the Civil Rights bill have passed?

5. His word on important matters...
Would that be "Unitary Excutive". Conrad is less cynical than I am about Alito's word.
