'Evil' teen jailed for savage party beating
HOUSTON, Texas (AP) -- A teenager described as a white supremacist was sentenced Friday to life in prison for savagely beating and sodomizing a Hispanic boy at a drug-fueled party.

David Henry Tuck, 18, was convicted Thursday of aggravated sexual assault in the near-fatal attack. Witnesses testified that he hurled racial insults and shouted "white power" while sodomizing the 17-year-old victim with the plastic pole of a patio umbrella.

Prosecutor Mike Trent told the jury that Tuck's history of violence showed he is beyond rehabilitation and would commit more attacks if released.

"He is an evil person, and he is not going to change or get better," Trent said. "We need protection from him. You are the only ones that provide that."

If you ask me life in prison is to good for this prick.

2. sounds like Anti-Social-Behavior-Disorder, they commit their first sexual assault about 9 and it
escalates.. i had one as a parolee in 84, he committed his first sexual assault at age 8, first armed sexual assault 9, and his first rape at 11.. at knife point.

they usually end up in prison as a choice of life style.. it is easier for them, their rape victims are a captive audience. and they dont have to work and pay rent.

5. that is good, sounds like he has had a tough life and been a jerk since young.
"Doctors did not initially expect the boy to live. He was hospitalized for more than three months and underwent 20 to 30 operations. He testified Wednesday that he remembered nothing of the assault."

Life sounds good. Wonder if he'll have to be kept in solitary?

I never offered any opinion on if he should be locked away forever or not. So what does that have to do with it? I did comment on (mongo) saying he would be released to make room for a non-violent drug offender. That's bullshit.

Besides, DUers sometimes call for the rape of someone who does this:

"According to testimony, the attack was triggered by the victim's drunken pass at a 12-year-old girl and his attempt to steal drugs."

So this guy rapes a pedophile and all hell breaks lose here.

Hypocrites.

EDIT: clarified

43. Then that's my bad...
And a real issue got lost in the banter.

That is this: The guy raped an alleged pedophile. Have you seen that supported on DU? I have. But we usually like to think of it happening inside a prison where we don't have see it, or even better, even know about it. It's more of a wish that we don't really want to know was granted.

So let me ask this: What if it were a mother who did this and he had made a pass at her daughter?

Would the reaction be the same?

Again, I'm not arguing for or against life in prison for him. That is a done deal and the decision was made by those who had all the facts. I'm only asking about the hypocrisy.

46. What?
He made a pass... That is not pedophilia. Besides, after working in schools my whole life, I can tell ya that I thought some students were young teachers or were MUCH MUCH older than what you expected, even at age 12.

I am not defending making passes at 12 year olds, but it is quite possible that she looked much older than 12 and flirting does not constitute getting beaten to near death and being sodomized.

23. The problem is that it will be 60 years of him
among other inmates, some of whom he'll almost definitely attack and victimize.

60 years in solitary might be better, but that's not going to happen.

27. Agreed, but
The fact that it was a guy definitely changed the way the trial went. There was no investigation into the victims past sexual history, no implication that it started out as concensual sex and just got out of hand, etc.

Even as brutal as this was, I don't know if he would have received the same sentence if it had been a girl that he attacked.

You said, "If you ask me life in prison is to (sic) good for this prick."

This is an 18 year old kid we're talking about here, right? What sentence could be worse than life in prison, and what sentence are you proposing would be more appropriate in your view?

Edit to fix (your) typo.

28. Life in prison might mean nothing more than a different
audience for this guy. He's going to be one of the predators behind bars.

How do we protect everyone else from him? You can't keep someone in Solitary confinement for all that long.

Giving him a captive audience of victims might not be a punishment for this guy. So what can we do that would keep other people safe? Are we saying that everyone who is behind bars deserves to have this guy sic'ed on them just because they are behind bars?

44. Do you really believe that this 18 year old
would be a big threat to the prison population?

Really?

He committed an ugly crime at a drug-fueled party against someone who was probably smaller and weaker than him, yes. But how does that make him a threat to a prison full of other criminals, many of whom will have been there for many years and will certainly be much worse and much more hardened than he is?

He's not exactly joining a group of gentle lambs in a prison full of lifers, is he? I certainly don't see how the prison population would be shaking in their boots at the prospect of his arrival, and my guess is that some of them will be salivating at the prospect of his arrival just so that they can show him what payback looks like.

And in this scenario will be locked up amongst hundreds of much older bad guys who have been in jail for a long time and will remain in jail for a long time to come.

Do you really think that this 18 year old would pose a big threat in that environment? Do you really think that this 18 year old would be a "predator" among the veteran lifers he's serving his sentence with?

Really?

sorry, but i think life in jail is great for him.
i like the idea of him being forced to live in confinement(in his cell) for 23 hours a day for the rest of his life. he can have plenty of time to think about what he did, and how he has no life to live. that his life is now set for him. he will never experience anything new again.
