They are swing votes in some cases and solid Democratic votes in others. Democrats are generally less dogmatic, and thus less disciplined than the repugnants. In the house the party unity of the repugnants was why the house always voted for the administration, the blue dogs had little to do with it.
I think that we will see a lot of struggle within the congressional Democratic caucuses as they sort out where they really stand on issues now that their votes actually count. It is going to be a rough ride.
of the 34 dems who voted for the torture bill 25 were Blue Dogs. The congressperson that we just worked very hard to elect is joining them. Not sure what this means just yet but it doesn't smell good to me.
