L.A. charges hospital in dumping of homeless
"LOS ANGELES - A Los Angeles hospital accused of dumping homeless patients on downtown’s Skid Row is facing the first criminal charges in the city’s campaign to crack down on the practice and clean up the area.

Kaiser Permanente is among 10 hospitals under investigation by city prosecutors for allegedly discharging homeless patients to the streets of Skid Row rather than to a relative or shelter.

The case against it stems from a March surveillance video showing a 63-year-old patient from Kaiser Permanente’s Bellflower hospital wandering Skid Row in a hospital gown and slippers. Prosecutors describe what happened to Carol Ann Reyes in a document supporting the criminal charges filed late Wednesday."

It would be so much easier if those useless poor people would just die and decrease the surplus population. :sarcasm:

Of course, the disabled in my state can't get any medical care, so perhaps the homeless in LA are one up on folks here... :puke:

1. Corporate medicine: Taking the "care" out of "health care"
What a shame.

3. Even with the cutbacks, California at least tries
My best friend takes care of her brother. As a teenager he was severely beaten, and suffered some brain damage. he had bounced around from place to place and ended up on the street. She found out where he was, and went to get him. For all the years he's been disabled, he has been receiving financial aid, and health care available to him (but with no real caretakers, his health was pretty bad..he's 61 now)..

anyway, my friend took him in, got him to doctors, and with good food, good care and a safe environment, he's as happy as a clam..

All the years he was "on his own", the people who "cared for" him just had him sign over his check, and did nothing for him.
