Second only to the actual win and the chance to repair some of the damage done to the United States, what I really loved was that it felt so much like a team effort. Everyone did what they could, based on their skills and their passion and their opportunity.
From Cindy Sheehan to Keith Olberman to Rahm Emmanuel to Howard Dean to Nancy Pelosi to Michael J Fox to John Conyers to every volunteer and staff person and voter. Some took a more conservative approach, some took a more progressive approach, some did it through good old politics and some through using celebrity to speak out. There were so many contributors - the folks who outed Foley and Haggard, the Dixie Chicks, and on and on.
Well, I didn't really expect this little coalition to last. We Democrats have never been good at that sort of thing. I'm sorry to see it's already unraveling so quickly. But I'm grateful for the feeling that when push came to shove we could make it work.
