Reminder: ASK FOR PAPER BALLOTS!!
As I posted last week I did so in early voting here in Dallas and had no problems with it.

I say send Diebold and company a message - we won't stand for your hacking for the repubs!

2. I asked here in Tennesee
and they said they couldn't do it. They said, "well you'll know how you voted". I was speechless.

3. Here, if you ask for a paper ballot, they give you a Provisional Ballot
Every one knows what happens to Provisional ballots, they spoil.

5. you should file a complaint with appropriate officials because
a paper ballot is equivalent to the electronic vote, not an add on. it should not be "provisional".

protest locally and contact some of these orgs with the 800 numbers that are collecting vote reports.

this is something that needs to be fixed. too bad the dems in the CA legislature have done nothing about it.

4. In CA a paper ballot is NOT more secure (absentees are not either) - >
1)if your ballot is the kind that is marked and run through a scanner to be totaled and counted, the tabulating computer can still cook the outcome.

2)information on a non-scannable paper ballot is transcribed and entered into the computer by a vote tabulator somewhere, and still subject at that point to fraud. the transcriber can enter whatever he or she wants and nobody will know any better.

3)votes cast in person go to a tabulator that prints a sheet with results (not sure how to explain this exactly). absentee ballots go into a system that does NOT produce any paperwork on the outcome, according to what I heard on the cbs radio news last night as quoted by a state of CA election official, so there is actually less verifiability in absentee ballots. BTW any absentee ballots that are transcribed by hand are subject to the whims of the transcribers as in #2 above.

only paper ballots counted by hand and double checked for verification have any hope of being scam proof as much as possible.
