I am suspicious of posts that attack those who are filibustering, and not
those who are against the filibuster. Who is trying to stop us from filibustering?

2. yup
I am suspicious of those who say "such and so will filibuster but they don't really mean it because they are just saying so now".
:wtf: Why have we been calling and faxing and emailing if not to help convince them?

6. Yesterday I said call Byrd and try to change his mind, but today...
Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 02:55 PM by seriousstan
after Reid came out and said the votes are not there and everyone knows it, I think some Dems(...cough..cough...Hillary) are now using the filibuster as political theater to pad their resume for 2008. I am suspicious of the "Johnny come latelies".

As for the question of should there be an attempt, I believe it doesn't really matter. You can't have a filibuster if they have 60 votes. There will be a vote for closure and it will succeed. That closes that avenue.

10. Remember the vote isn't for a couple more days.
You may be right and I am sure that there is political manuvering going on behind the scenes, but realize that it is not over until it is over and the vote isn't for a couple more days and people can wait to make up their minds and change their minds until the very last minute. I am set for it to either go to a vote Mon or not, and am continuing to contact the senators until then. Not knowing is difficult, keep bugging them.

12. Then I wish Reid would shut his pie hole. I saw him say it was a done deal
That doesn't help those officials who are truly on the fence and not just playing the game for future elections.

8. I agree. I've seen two people knocking Kerry and Clinton for it.
Both low count, neither making a bit of sense.

20. still it's hard to believe even they don't fathom the ramifications
of this ANTI-Constitution candidate. I think with a carefully-worded explanation, there can be no reproach, at least from reasonable people. I may be wrong, but I'm having a hard time understanding how Alito as a Supreme is anything but a terrible idea.

Democrats have wide and varying opinions on things. DU is for the discussion of those ideas. Please, debate the ideas but don't cast aspersions on other DUers. If you feel someone is being disruptive of is a troll pleast hit alert. Thanks.
