not a big deal. we didnt back him on it. we allowed bushco to win with strong support of the media. it is a reflection of us.... not that kerry didnt put "us" in that sentence. we ALL know what he was saying. we ALL know he wasnt dissing the troops. that is the reality. and we allowed the game of a falsehood, an illusion to be the truth. and we insisted kerry apologize for the illusion.

shame on us

kerry just gave us a reflection of who we are as a people

shame on us

1. Oh hell...
I think most of us were laughing at the feined outrage, but we were also pissed and utterly disgusted at how despicably slimy the Republican shit smear machine is, and how readily the MSM will accommodate it. I can't wait to see Bill Maher's take on this. Sometimes he pisses me off, but sometimes he says things that puts all the madness into cool, rational perspective.

2. Wrong. It's not our job to defend Kerry and make a bigger deal of nothing
I can't speak for others, but my observation is WE didn't do anything wrong.
Most of us have PLENTY on our plates, many of us are doing phone calls, lit drops, etc.

Screw phoney blame games.

11. You apparently don't write what you mean.
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 07:42 PM by HereSince1628
You are the one claiming we are guilty for not supporting Kerry. If it's NOT about supporting Kerry why did you write that we failed to support Kerry?

I did write what I meant. And I wrote it in reponse to your scolding of US, the grass roots folks who have pushed, prodded, protested, got our homes and cars defaced for bumber stickers (and at least one DU'er got the family car gunshot), and then many of us have gone on to donate money and time to campaigns that'll reject our agenda because we are too radical.

To reiterate, "We" didn't do anything wrong.

It is NOT the job of the rank and file to jump to the defense of a high profile screw-up by a celebrity.

BECAUSE:

--Trying to do that is like throwing water on an oil fire. It just spreads the fire around.

--We have our backs bent to the task of doing the boots on the ground work. If we stop that, because Kerry farted we won't be doing the ground work that really does need to be done.

3. Have to figure out how to fight the media
They have a coordinated effort - we've got angst and indecision and ultimately, inaction. Annoying as hell.

4. He's smart enough to realize when to apologize even when insulting others

was not his intention.

He picked the wrong moment to "fight the rovian machine".

Shame isn't it.

12. "I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply...

Now this is how you apologize:

"I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform, and I personally apologize to any service member, family member or American who was offended," Kerry said in a statement Wednesday.

"As a combat veteran, I want to make it clear to anyone in uniform and to their loved ones: My poorly stated joke at a rally was not about, and never intended to refer to any troop,"

That's the Kerry I support. Articulate and caring. And then went on to criticize the republicans.

"It is clear the Republican Party would rather talk about anything but their failed security policy," he said. "I don't want my verbal slip to be a diversion from the real issues. I will continue to fight for a change of course to provide real security for our country, and a winning strategy for our troops.
