While reading about Gandhi, it occurred that I should perhaps have some sympathy for "compassionate conservatives."

In seeing the power of his approach to an adversary, it seemed like the right way to help others see the truth and find real illumination.

Perhaps his ideas, which closely match the teachings of Buddha and Jesus, are exactly what we need as elections approach.

Perhaps repaying the verbal attacks of neocons with kind words will win the day.

All these things I pondered.

Then...

I remember that I was
