One more vote for Chris Bell (Texas gubernatorial candidate - D!)

As some of you may recall, my father, who has voted Reupblican in every election since 1968 (with the obvious exception of East Texas Democratic primaries, because of the lack of Republican primaries), said a few months ago that he might consider voting for Al Gore in '08 because he "deserves his chance" and "it couldn't be worse" and "he's has his wilderness time". Et cetera.

Then he told me a few weeks ago that he was considering voting for Grandma in an anti-incumbent statement all the way down the ballot. Then he watched the debate, and was unimpressed.

So today he calls me to tell me that he voted early today - for Chris Bell. I almost fell down. This is a BIG DEAL. Staunch Republicans are abandoning the party; Perry will be hemmorhaging votes soon, I think. Also, one of my good friends told me at happy hour that his mother, a similarly staunch GOP voter, ALSO voted for Bell!

I should add my father is NOT an evangelical Christian.
