Has anyone here heard any new info on the Ammo Dump disaster at
Forward Base Falcon, I've seen a lot of rumours and a list of names, is any of this information from reliable sources?

My wife's Brother, Sgt Josh Collins is in Bahgdad, no word from him.

How reliable is TRB news?

4. TRB News is a fraud. Haven't seen anything reliable.
And into this vacuum, rumors rush to fill the gap.

Obviously, the government is hiding SOMETHING.

But nobody credible has been able to tell us what's going on.

7. I googled a few names
and they only show up where the TRB article shows up. While I would expect the Bush Administration to cover this up I don't think the military would or even could.

Operations return to normal after mortar attack on FOB Falcon
By Spc. Jason Dangel, 4th BCT PAO, 4th Inf. Div.
Oct 14, 2006, 18:18

Blackanthem Military News, FOB FALCON, Iraq – Less than 24 hours after enemy 82mm mortar rounds hit an ammunition holding area, causing a torrent of explosions and fires that continued to smolder through the next day, life on Forward Operating Base Falcon has retuned to normal.

Despite triggering multiple explosions and causing fire crews to work overtime, there were no casualties, and little damage was sustained to the buildings and vehicles positioned throughout the large military base located in Baghdad’s Doura neighborhood, said Col. Michael Beech, commander, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

9. I'm of two minds about this...
One, if there was catastrophically bad news, the Administration would hide it for as long as the could, or at least until after the election. They would use some "military secrets" excuse.

On the other hand, I can almost buy into the "no damage sustained" to vehicles and buildings, and even no casualties. We've bee stowing ammunition for hundreds of years, there are ways to design depots to minimize collateral damage even for catastrophic accidents. For instance, the storage building are designed so that the blast from any accidental detonations are directed upward, not to the sides where there is more ammo stowed. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me that the thieving, treasonous bastards at Haliburton cut corners by building the depot to be more "efficient" i.e. cheaper, rather than safe or secure.

On the third hand... NO casualties? It is not unknown for a simple family house fire to have at least people suffering from smoke inhalation... I'm highly skeptical that for a disaster of that size no one was injured at all...

12. I'm with you. But - are they so stupid as to post the "no casualties" if
they're covering something up?

Don't bother.
I know the answer to that.

8. Is this source reliable...
Edited on Mon Oct-23-06 11:16 AM by Alamom
I've seen links from here before but have no idea if this is a reliable source.... if not, I apologize.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=KHA20061022&articleId=3557

Iraqi source, who refused to reveal his identity, said that dozens of American soldiers were killed in those explosions. The source pointed out that six Iraqi translators were killed in those explosions. American forces refused to hand over the bodies of the dead Iraqis to their families without giving reasons."

There are emailed reports, yet to be confirmed, that the number of dead American soldiers at Al-Rashid military base (camp Falcon) has reached 300.

(Falcon base was designed to house a large contingent of American troops, mostly drawn from the 4th Infantry Division, stationed at Fr. Bliss, Texas. At the time of the attack, there were approximately 3000 men inside the camp, which also was filled with ammunition supplies, fuel, tanks and vehicles.

Parents, husbands, wives and other relatives who receive email from those in Iraq must be asking questions after 13 days.

11. A post was made on this subject yesterday
Edited on Mon Oct-23-06 11:50 AM by edwardlindy
in LBN and removed almost immediately presumably by the Mods. There were no links - just the names of two sites neither of which were TRB but which became the final link. As I'm not sure of the reason for the deletion I'd better not provide those links again. I will however point out that under the picture of the derelict site there is a note which refers to Novosti Press Agency which is the Russian news agency. It's not clear whether their name refers to the casualty list, the picture or Green Zone Follies.

Notwithstanding the above I refuse to believe that given the sheer size of the explosion in the newsreel video posted at the time on DU that there were no casualties.

edited to add : http://blog-ah.typepad.com/blogah/2006/10/davids_ammo_exp.html which at least spreads a bit more light of the force of the exposions.

18. Whoa! Can't imagine what it must have looked like at closer range.
That film was taken from a very distant location, all things considered.

It's so large, that if it IS a U.S. arms depot, the Bush administration won't want to admit it, EVER, especially right before national elections.

I can see no reason to insist no one was hurt, especially on the part of people who weren't within thousands of miles.

Thanks!

16. You know what?
Pretty much every person with military experience who's posted about this subject has said the same thing: It's entirely reasonable to expect there to be no casualties in this kind of situation because ammo dumps are designed not to kill anybody if they explode. You keep hearing "rumors" because some people have a vested interest in propogating conspiracy theories in order to drive traffic to their websites.
