Bush is way too confident of republicans retaining control.....
Edited on Mon Oct-23-06 06:43 AM by Postman
I don't like his weird overconfidence, his almost re-assuredness, that republicans will retain control of Congress.

His latest remarks were to his father. Kind of quietly admonishing him for thinking what life would be like for his son if the Democrats were to gain control of Congress (that statement alone by Bush Sr is telling in the fact that even he knows they are as corrupt as the day is long)

Shrub reassured his father that he shouldn't worry because "the Democrats aren't going to win"....

Is the fix in? Because by all accounts, this election is all about Bush.
And as we all know, republicans have been running from him like he has the plague.

They are going to try and steal this election. Bush is way too confident of victory for republicans given their unpopularity....

They are going to try and steal it people.

10. Revealed as bunglers
We're talking about Bush and his predictions for the future, aren't we?
Isn't this the same guy who told us there were WMDs in Iraq?
These are the people who fcked up the Katrina response, aren't they?
these are the incompetents who fcked up the Iraq War, arent they?
These are the people who have druiven the national debt higher than ALL previous administrations combined, aren't they?
I could go on and on.
If Bush was effective the world would be in a lot different place.
They've won the last 3 elections on tricks but the American People are getting tired of them, and about dam time, too. America is NOT a naturally conservative nation, theyve only got elected by muddying the waters.
I think the American People have seen enough of these crooks. They realize now that the Iraq War was a big mistake.
A Democratic Congress is just what this country needs right now.

6. I know but Bush 43 is over the top in his confidence of victory...
And with them having admitted that they have "no plan" for what to do if the Democrats win... (as if that's stopped them with anything else, I know)

I just don't trust them, they're thugs.

5. There are limits to how much they can get away with stealing
They can flip a few close races, but they can't get away with flipping overwhelming turn-out.

If they try to change 80/20 into 20/80, all over the country, they will get caught.

The worst-case scenario is that they pull that crap and it takes us a year to sort it out and prove it before we start throwing people out of office and into jail.

But you know what would be interesting?

Hackers putting Andy Stephenson into office in various races around the country.

7. That is too obvious...
They could turn a 60/40 into 53/47...

They aren't stupid in that regard. They would make overwhelming turnout look like a hair thin victory for republicans. A last minute turnout of the "war on terrorism" crowd...

16. Senator, Congressman, and Governor Alfred E. Neuman
News flash:
In an amazing turn of events, Alfred E. Neuman, who wasn't even a candidate,
was elected as Senator, Congressman, and Governor of several large states.
He won the largest percentage of votes in Ohio.

"Hackers putting Andy Stephenson into office in various races around the country."

11. Let's Hear Some Good Defeatism, OK?
The other night I got a semi-frantic call from a lifelong friend whose all but certain the "fix is in"...Rove's got the elections rigged...millions scrubbed from the roles in Ohio and Florida, rigged machines in Maryland, Illinois and Missouri...listening to him sounded like he'd memorized every horror story on DU...and that no matter what the polls say, there's no way the Democrats can win...it's pre-ordained Rove and others have fixed this election and there's nothing you can say that will convince him otherwise.

Next came the "pay-off"...he says "with all these things against us, I don't even see a reason to vote". That's when I had enough. I said to him..."so since Karl Rove has spooked you, you have decided not to fight back with your vote...or at least see what happens?" After a few go-round of him telling me how bad things are and me asking him if Karl Rove has taken over his brain, he finally admitted he'd prefer to think of the worst than of anything else. His memories of 2004...when he was all but sure Kerry would win...is still very fresh and he's been inundated with the "Democrats are weak, the elections are fixed" meme so much that he's almost talked himself out of voting.

Of course the Repugnicans are gonna talk a good game...they have to...for any chance, they still need the turn-out and these smug pronouncements are to make sure those people signed up for the church busses show up and feel they're backing "a winner". It's like the coach trying to buch up the fan base...the team's 10 games out going into September and he's worried about people showing up at the ballpark.

18. It's all a front
He has to play his role. Down deep I feel even the dumbest voter has to realize that there needs to be a real cleaning up done this year among these varmints. They have done NOTHING right....NOTHING. Only a total fool could be optimistic. That would naturally include G.W. He's not known for his wise predictions. But, we mustn't forget their ability to fix yet another election! That would explain his optimisitc tone.

22. Beware
He's got congress to pass all the laws he needs to steal the election (to keep his ass out of jail) AND quell any uprising that results. Posse Commitatus? Repealed three weeks ago in the dead of night. Now Bush can even arrest any one of us just for speaking out against him and posting information about stolen elections.

Look what happened in Busby-Bilbray race...all they had to do was certify the results before it got to the courts and the courts were left castrated. They won't steal it with such a blatant outright theft. While we're watching key, high-profile races, little-known underdogs will win a few surprise races, while others races will fall into a Diebold induced tabulation hell, and won't be called for days or weeks..."Looks like we have more work to do!" as Poppy said on election night, 2000.

I posted a new cartoon and rant about this very danger lurking below the surface in my latest NBY Update.

"Gee, we're going to get our clocks cleaned and i might as well just accept it." Is that what you think he's going to say as the de facto head of the party? Or were you expecting, "Well, i guess my legacy is going to be that i screwed up so badly that the people threw my allies out of office."? It would be true, but when it the last time Silverspoon told the truth?

However, Bush (of all people) is NOT going to admit any weakness (nor responsibility for ANYTHING) in public and I would think that for the GOP to retain Congress after this year's midterm elections would require voter fraud on such a massive scale that would make it difficult, if not impossible, for the GOP to explain away. Also, some of the GOP's election shenanigans are already (finally!) getting some MSM coverage. The polls all year have been strongly trending Democratic and the daily prospects for the GOP only seem to be getting worse, NOT better even despite a slight uptick in the polls during and immediately after their annual 9/11 GOP "Terror Festival." With more and more Republicans becoming endangered (and investigated) and a steady stream of "bad news" from Iraq, I'm not sure how the GOP is going to maintain their majority in BOTH houses of Congress let alone even one of them. What's really ironic to me is that the GOP's plan to campaign on "personal issues and controversies" has (so far) backfired on them and actually seems to have resulted in more investigations of them NOT us! :toast: I'm not taking anything for granted however. There's always the presumed "October Surprise" that could still whipsaw us, however so far, the only "surprises" so far have hurt the GOP NOT us.

I mean, c'mon, who doesn't think they will try to steal it?

Thing is, this time many of us are ready. This time they know the gig is just about up, so they will have to be awful careful. But being too careful means they will not be able to pull off but just a few major races.

So, the level of theft will be minimized. The question is: after evidence comes out will the people back the ones who have produced the evidence or will people once again look the other way?

What will you do when the evidence is presented?
