Pelosi will be the first woman President of the United States.
That's right.

When we take back Congress, Rummy will be the first (and easiest) to remove from office.

Then Cheney, then Bush.

That puts Nancy Pelosi in the White House. She can fire Condi and Gonzo.

Then we have a Democratic incumbent to help ensure there's a REAL election in 2008.

Problem solved! You can go to sleep now. :)

24. I would prefer to believe she's lying for political reasons
Who in their right minds would say, "if we get in power, the top guy is gone"?

I. Can't. Believe. I. Just. Said. That.

But really, consider this: you're in a conversation with your boss about something you did, and during that conversation, you say, "if you do xyz, I will take you to court, and personally ensure that you are fired, your pension is raided, and your kids don't go to college."

What do you think would happen?

NOW consider talking about impeaching the president if you get elected.

I used to be in the impeachment camp, but now, I'm not so sure that a good idea from a strategic standpoint. Never mind what I've said about the Clinton impeachment poisoning the well for the impeachment of this pretzeldent- we need to win first.

Talking impeachment will keep us from winning.

By the way: can we ship him off to the Hague if he isn't impeached? That might well send a bigger message to the world:

"Oh, look: The Americans are just as pissed at Bush as we are. They're sending their sitting leader to a war crimes trial!"

It would do a lot to repair our reputation in the eyes of the rest of the world, IMO.

26. Considering that the bosses bosses...
Edited on Sat Oct-21-06 02:39 AM by loyalsister
are the bosses (voters) of some of the people who are reviewing the job performance of the people we want rehired or fired it is even more relevent to consider.
We should keep in mind that some of the "reviewers" who recommended rehire of her the other boss are reconsidering and not criticize their earlier choices right now.

28. Taking impeachment OFF the table is the SMART thing to do...
I'm no fan of Pelosi, but this is the right call. Articles of Impeachment could pass the House (assuming everything breaks right for us in Nov). Great. Chimpy's impeached. Then what?

Then they go to the Senate for conviction. It takes 67 Senate votes to convict. There are not enough seats in play this time for us to get 67. All the repubs have to do is hold ranks and conviction fails.

What does that mean if we impeach in the House and CAN'T CONVICT in the Senate. It means the fucking fucks are EXONERATED.

Hell no, she's ABSOLUTELY RIGHT to take impeachment off the table.

Investigate the bastards. Put them in front of EVERY HOUSE COMMITTEE, under oath, and turn the spotlight on.

and thinks Iraq was a huge mistake.

I'll just remind him that it could be worse, the "liberal media" could be pushing Michael Moore for president.

5. And All That's Gonna Happen In Two Years Huh?
You said go to sleep, but methinks you're already dreaming...

As nice as your scenario sounds, it just ain't gonna happen. Personally, all I care about when the dems take control is that real legislation that benefits americans gets done.

25. Well said, I agree 100%
To many people spend way to much time dreaming of impeachment and prosecutions. Like it or not we are in 2 wars, with 2 more looming. The American public would turn on the Democratic party very fast, if payback was our main focus, instead of good legislation, and sound foreign policy. Impeaching a Pres during war time, would be a a huge mistake, no matter what he may deserve our how incompetent he may be.

6. Impossible
If Cheney felt he would be found guilty by the Senate ( where would we get 2/3 of the votes!), he would resign and Bush would name someone new. Then if we got Bush, the new person would step in and name a new VP.
Instead we would have new Repubs in 2008 that could run again - twice!

7. We can be without a VP. We have been before.
Bush's choice would require congressional approval. We wouldn't give him approval. Just keep the office vacant.

Of course, it's just a fantasy. But it entertains me.

A republican acquaintance said recently that North Carolina had altered it's law so that W could become their governor. I said that would be a pretty hard job for him to do from prison, and the republican BLEW UP. They're really afraid of it, I think. Deep down, they know it's where he belongs.

12. Did you upset him a lot? Does he also need to be investigated?
Does he require harsh interrogation? (The sooner we get around the torturing Republicans, the sooner we get those atrocious laws repealed.)

10. Don't be so quick to dismiss the possibility - if Cheney gets taken out,
his replacement has to be approved by WHO? The Senate or House, I forget which. What happens when they refuse to confirm a replacement for Cheney while they are impeaching Bush? Suddenly, both Bush and Cheney could be out, and then Pelosi steps in, naming HER VP choice, which is approved because we control the approval process.

It's do-able. Will we do it? I doubt it.
I think we can make Bush's life a living hell IN OFFICE for two years, and watch him slowly come apart at the seams.

13. And more importantly than removal...
Now this is critical for me: Get the evidence needed to PUT THEM IN JAIL!

The United States cannot heal without truth and reconciliation for the crimes committed in our name.

No half-assed Iran-Contra hearings. Bona fide criminal charges and high-ranking officials IN JAIL.

14. I still say impossible
The Senate and the House both must approve. I was around during the Nixon/Agnew/Ford/Rockefeller ascension. Congress does not want to leave a vacancy; it makes the country look vulnerable.

Besides, have you not noticed how many DINOs we have? I have Landrieu as my Senator for a constant reminder.

Fun dream but little chance of reality.

17. We'll make Landrieu toe the line!
We tolerate her because we're in the minority.

When we're the ones in power and all the money starts to flow to us, we'll have to have a LONG talk with Mary.

What's her other option? Become a LOSER Republican?

(I'm still mostly joking, of course)

27. She is up for reelection in 2008
Have you looked at Louisiana? We elected a Repub Senator in 2004. 5 of our 7 Reps are Repub.

She has to "toe the line" in a different way or she will be replaced by an "actual" Repub.

16. If Bush and Cheney are seriously threatened with impeachment,
I predict we'll just have a repeat of the Nixon scenario.

In exchange for accepting their resignations, we'll allow Cheney to resign first, then Congress will approve his replacement. Then Bush will resign, and the newly appointed V.P. will become President.

That will be considered enough of a disgrace.
