Ken Mehlman: Foley scandal is so yesterday

http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/news_theswamp/2006/10/gop_official_fo.html#more

Ken Mehlman, after a rally with David McSweeney and Peter Roskam in front of about 100 Republican supporters at the “Illinois Victory Center”-the GOP’s election headquarters in an office center in northwest suburban Rolling Meadows. He was asked if the Foley scandal continues to be a drag on his party.

“I believe that what the scandal did was two things. First of all, for about a month, I think we had a good wind behind our backs in discussing the choice in the war on terror and it certainly slowed that down two weeks ago and the week after that and it had an impact in certain districts.”

However, if you look at the polling in the Illinois 6th and 8th congressional districts, he said, he doesn’t believe that there was an impact there.

“I think that the Speaker did the right thing, which was to say, the moment he found out about this, he gave Foley the political death penalty, as aggressive as he could have been: leave Congress. He also brought in the most aggressive investigators he could: the FBI and the Department of Justice. And so I think that most people who look at it will say, ‘I think he was right to give the guy the political death penalty’ and I think most races are coming down to who is on the ballot.”

1. Horse feathers.
"the moment he found out about this, he gave Foley the political death penalty, as aggressive as he could have been: leave Congress"
Foley resigned well before Hastert uttered a word. Mehlman is a lyin' liar.

7. what's TRULY amazing is that he can go on TV over and over and
NEVER be confronted on this, and several other blatant lies he's been telling, another of which concerns his denial of ANY connections with Abramoff, even though there are emails describing him as a ROCK STAR, getting things like jails built on Indian reservations

for some reason, though, he's total teflon when he goes on camera

when is fricking McAuliffe going to hit him with the laundry list of BS he's been shoveling? I'm sick unto death of this creep getting away with lying his ass off every times he opens his mouth, and NEVER getting called on it

9. Um... McAuliffe?
Terry McAuliffe isn't the Dem party chair, anymore. Howard Dean is. Did you mean Dean?

I can't see American TV but I assume that except a few standing out, the good old and once respected American journalism is dead.

4. I have a dream: that one day every republican who blatantly lies like that
would have their tongues jump out of their mouths and run away.

:)

11. I have a dream, too.
That all those tongues run over a cliff, fall into the ocean and drift away, to be eaten by a giant shark.

Heh.

16. I'm going to agree with Mehlman on this one. The page scandal should be
replaced with the sex slave scandal involving Mehlman and Abramhoff clients that led to the firing of a White House official trying to prevent sex slavery.

22. How much time was spent on the Monica "scandal"
just for the sake of comparison? Also, it wasn't the moment the Speaker "found out", it was the moment that he realized other people had found out.

23. Then why does foley try to keep
it in the limelight by identifying an old priest in Italy as his sexual mentor?

Just because you say it's "so yesterday" does not mean a whole lot..we say when it's over.
