I'm ticked off at Jim Davis running for Fl governor.
From what I can see, he has done virtually nothing to campaign for this office. I was more impressed with Rod Smith the candidate who ran against him in the primaries, but Davis had the big guns behind him, including Bob Graham (who was rumored to be running his campaign) and Max Cleland, so we all thought Davis would have a better chance, having the bigger backing.

But I have seen zip in the way of campaigning from Davis or any one of these big shot supporters since the primary, and now Charlie Christ, a real Jeb clone is double digits in the lead.

Why do these people even get in the race if they're not going to fight for the office? I've seen this happen before and I just don't understand it.

1. I voted for Rod Smith.
This Jim Davis is a joke, IMO. He has been to Jacksonville ONCE since the primaries, and I have seen zilch(sic) as far as TV ads or anything from him since.

Oh well... I guess Florida will elect it's first gay Governor.

3. I also voted for Rod because he impressed me so much more
at the state convention last November, but I remember the buzz was that Davis would have deeper pockets and be a stronger candidate because of big name backers.

I'm really disappointed. I think Rod would have fought much harder.

2. They actually have an anti-Davis ad playing here in St. Lucie ...
It depicts Davis' office chair rolling around Washington DC, but nobody can actually find him.

5. Yep, playing here too, but I haven't heard a word of rebuttal.
I'm really scratching my head wondering what has happened here, especially since there is a huge amount Jeb Bush dissatisfaction in this state.

4. He came here to our little town of Cocoa
But yes, he has not really engaged him self in many area. Much like the race with McBride & Jeb. I don't understand why he started so late on the campaign!

6. funny that you should say that.
My husband was just saying yesterday that all over Broward County the only yard signs he sees in the neighborhoods and out on the main highways are signs for CRIST and signs for e.clay shaw. NOT ONE SIGN FOR DAVIS. NOT ONE SIGN FOR SHAW'S OPPONENT. In fact, he just wrote a letter to the DAVIS campaign yesterday asking if they were planning to replicate the McBride stunt of handing over the election to the Bushes and the Republican party. He is so disillusioned, he says he thinks he is not going to vote this time around because of that and o, yes, brenda snipes, the diebold machines and her forever "o it was a glitch." "o the machines hiccuped". i don't blame him. it really is all quite disillusioning.

7. Not here in Monroe county either, and I haven't seen any in Dade
the times I go up there. I wonder if this kind of apathy is going on in other states? Tell hubby he has to vote. It's not fair to the other candidates.

15. Interesting. I thought maybe he was saving his campaigning bucks
for that part of the state, but obviously not. Thanks for the input.

say anything to the contrary. I'm sorry.:-(

9. Wonder if Davis has the $$$. Christ has been beating up on him bad.

I haven't seen much from Davis. I live in Naples though and a lot of Dems tend to just write off our area.

12. At the convention, Rod Smith threw a party with free food and drinks
and made sure to go up personally to each delegate there and shake their hand. When we went to the Davis party, we had to buy refreshments (at a pretty hefty price) and Davis stayed on the stage. It seems like a petty thing, but it didn't put him in the best light.

10. Lets face it!
Davis is a pathetic candidate. I predicted on my show that if he beat Rod Smith he wouldn't have a chance in hell of winning the general election. He hasn't been able to raise money because he has no fire in his belly. First McBride now Davis. What the hell are Florida Democrats thinking?

The Davis campaign has not spent even one red cent in the Naples, Ft. Myers area. I realize it is a red area but to totally neglect 750,000 people is really foolish.

13. I think my bigger question is, why then if he was the weaker candidate
did he garner more support from the democratic pol big shots? Smith gave a stirring speech with lots of belly fire, but the big guns all seemed to be in Davis' corner. Now you don't hear from any of them.

19. Davis is already in Congress
And has the backing of Bob Graham and evidently, thats all you need here. The Florida Democratic Party headquarters is full of people who haven't a clue.

11. You're not alone - he's almost nonexistent in Broward

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/local/southflorida/sfl-celxdavis19oct19,0,3261120.story

"Still, with the Nov. 7 election rapidly approaching, it's possible to drive through large swaths of historically Democratic territory without seeing a sign for Davis, a Tampa congressman. He's being far outspent by Republican Charlie Crist, the state's attorney general, in the expensive Miami-Fort Lauderdale television market."

Crist will win. Put your efforts into electing Democrats into Congress. On a macro political level it is much more important than a governorship.

17. Davis response :St pete Times......
************note**this is in newpaper....not on air waves......which he should do.........but as you all feel.......I think this man has not gotten his message out.......if he doesn't soon.......we will have a Gov.Crist

from Times::::::::::
His campaign sent a letter to television stations saying the ad is "false and misleading" and should be taken down. None had done so as of Thursday evening.

The campaign said Davis has passed five bills during his decade in Congress, not three as the ad states. The missing bills urged Saudi Arabia to tone down anti-Western rhetoric in textbooks and named a post office in St. Petersburg for civil rights leader Morris Milton.

Crist spokeswoman Erin Isaac distributed a statement saying there were plans to address the concerns. She would not elaborate.

Coming to Davis' defense was U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Boca Raton, who told reporters Thursday that the ad ignores a reality that it's hard for Democrats to get bills heard, let alone passed.

18. There are more leftover Rod Smith signs than Jim Davis signs
and I constantly see Crist commercials bashing Davis - I don't think I have seen a single Davis commercial.

20. Jim Davis who?
I've seen little sign of him around here in Alachua County.

Needless to say I voted for Smith but I know a lot of people in So FL who thought he was the devil because he took money from Big Sugar. It's ashame, he was a much more dynamic candidate.

21. There are some Davis ads here in Tampa...
focusing on reducing property taxes and pointing out that Crist hasn't done anything about property taxes in 8 years. What confused me is that Crist was AG, what can he do about tax rates??

I dunno. I wasn't impressed.

23. Him and Angelides have been the two biggest disapointments
It's not as though they were up against particulary strong candidates and now they're both about to be slaughtered.
